It was the last day 12-car train (Mid-Life Refurbishment MLR-train) ran on the East Rail Line so that East Rail Line cross-harbour extension can be opened on 15 May (It is noted that 12-car train cannot be used for that route). MTR organised an event so that passengers can have last moment with MLR-train and take photos. The last MLR-train (E112/E71) was departed from Hung Hum station at 13:06 and arrived Mong Kok East station at 13:12. It stopped service at Sha Tin and departed from Sha Tin station at 15:00. After that, all MLR-trains were officially retired.
Before the train arrivial, staff played an announcement to briefly introduce this MLR-train. After that, the announcement "A 12-car train to Sha Tin is arriving. Please stand behind the yellow line and mind the gap when boarding" was played. This announcement was the last time passengers could hear "A 12-car train to XX is arriving."
Thank you for 40 years service, MLR-train.
Other videos about last 12-car train service day in the morning and afternoon will be released within 1 week (hopefully). Please look forward to it.
