The song about blue shawl that I remember from the past, is a forgotten hit by Jerzy Petersburski. A citizen of the musical world, coming from the famous klezmer family Melodists, applauded in Europe and both Americas, feted by the audience of Casino de Paris and on Broadway, "sung" by Pola Negri, Edith Piath, Hanka Ordonówna...After the outbreak of the war, he found himself in the Soviet Union, where he toured the country with a jazz orchestra. One day in Moscow in a hotel in Moscow, where Petersburski stayed, the Russian poet Jakub Goldenberg appeared with his poem about a blue shawl. Peterburski read the text, sat down at the piano without a word and - as if having some music prepared - played once and the second of the sentimental waltz. And so in 5 minutes a new big hit was born. The song Sinij platochek - this is its Russian title - immediately hit the front. The text was changed to a less sentimental, more actual war variant. This song was so popular in the Red Army that the soldiers shouted: "For the homeland, for Stalin and for the Blue shawl! Hurray! " Blue shawl found its way to Palestine through St. Petersburg himself or perhaps emigrants from Russia. It's Hebrew version was written by the Russian poet Abraham Szlonski. In 44, this waltz entered to the repertoire of the Hebrew cabarets Li-La-Lo and Matata and till today it's part of the canon of the Israeli song.
