Here we have Manny in one of only 3 Pete 520 CNGs in the Antelope Valley yard. 106640 and 106641 are the others. Originally an order of 6 of these that included 106638, 639, and 643 was delivered, but those were “loaned” out to Moreno Valley about 2 years ago and haven’t come back since. Guess I can’t blame them since these are nice units.
Manny originally got this truck in 2020 for his Lancaster greenwaste route. I actually filmed it and 106638 brand new. These 520s were delivered before the completion of the CNG site in Palmdale and had to fill up in Lancaster so they were assigned exclusively to Lancaster drivers originally. However about a year ago the driver who was doing this route (101523’s old route for those of you waybackers) took over Saturnino’s old recycle route. Manny decided to put a bid in on this trash route, he wound up getting it and since CNG fueling capacity was no longer a concern they let him bring 106642 with him. So now he has a couple of days where he does trash in Palmdale too.
106642 has held up well, sadly it’s getting really difficult to find one of these Peterbilts on a primary route that isn’t in a county area anymore. Palmdale only has 5 Petes normally and Lancaster the same. So I decided it was worth tracking Manny down on his Wednesday route which is the closest route to me. Truck runs pretty nice but was a bit dirty from the wet weather we’ve been having. Rain + Landfill always makes these units look a bit rough lol.
Thanks to Manny for letting me film and for being an awesome guy as always!
