This past Friday I went out to Carson to find the MR on food waste. I went out there to see that it had already been collected. I don't really like commercial routes because they don't have steady schedules. I then went to check in with Jairo who was nearby. I asked him about it and he didn't know his route. Jairo also told me Toro was back and on bulk in the "monster truck." The monster truck is the Volvo WG, and the Volvo WG is a monster!
I went around the area looking for Toro and after looking around for 30 min I gave up. I went to an area where I suspected bulk will finish. I saw Jesus in the area and I just talked to him to kill time. I left him and I saw that Toro hadn't came yet! As I was leaving I saw him turn out of a cul de sac in the distance. I hauled ass on my bike and I was able to reach.
I was happy to see him back on route, since he was gone ever since the start of Winter. His broken leg seemed full recovered - he didn't have any brace or anything. With that amount of time a broken leg SHOULD recover. I'm surprised he remembered me as the last time I talked to him was 2 years ago, Jan. 2013.
I was able to film Toro on his last 3 stops for the day. Some of the stops seemed heavy so I helped him out. I didn't have the camera rolling when I was helping for most of the time, but I just added a clip of me helping him when the camera was rolling. Also on the last stop the resident swept the broken glass - very curtious of him.
I've been wanting to film this truck since 2012 when I saw it on route. I saw it again in 2013, and twice in 2014 when it was used as a spare for the Compton bulk guy in RHE and when it was used by Jesus when he had to collect Xmas Trees. Until now I was able to film it. This truck is beautiful. I love the extended bumper and how it sits so high. Although, my big question is whether its diesel or LNG? Toro told me it runs off of gas, but I bet some of you beg to differ from a truck like this.
This chassis is very rare to see on an RL. This is more common to see on a Roll Off. Either way it's really rare to see something like this in SoCal, especially in the South Bay area.
Thanks to Toro for being so cool and nice!
Well, hope you guys enjoy this special treat! If you want more I could get more since the Compton bulk guy has been out lately.
Filmed in Carousel, Carson, CA on 4/3/15 from 4 30pm to 5pm
