Hazel is now ninety six years old. (98 in 2020). She is a good friend of mine and she's (still) in amazing shape. (She never had contact with any of the panel members before or after the show, as stated in a comment here.) As a result of this show, she appeared on TV shows coast to coast promoting Maine sardines. She was a taster for just a few months. She was actually a lab technician for the state sardine department (or whatever it's called). She later became head of the histology department in a hospital. She's a dear person.

spazhat You have to be a specialised doctor to examine histological probes in a hospital and it is almost unthinkable that a mere lab technician could be the head of a department of histology.

@@Celisar1 - I used to work in that field, and it is quite incorrect. Ironically enough, I no longer work as a lab tech because I switched _to become a doctor._ As an aside, it's the strength of the word "unthinkable" that I'm taking issue with. I'm not discounting that there are doctors who are the head of histology departments. However, not all hospitals are organized the way you're assuming.

Small Pseudonym I AM a doctor and I wrote “almost unthinkable” just in case someone like you comes along. Every probe has to be examined and diagnosed by a doctor who will then sign the diagnostic findings. Facts. And I have never seen someone else than a doctor leading that or any other medical department.

I would like to thank the person that posted this video. It has meant a lot to me. I might also mention that this video was played at Hazel's 100th birthday celebration and it was very special.

By far, WML was the best of the panel shows and is as entertaining as ever. With TV off for many days at a time, it's nice to have WML on YT.

As it turns out, Hazel Williams was related to Arlene's husband, Martin Gabel, who is sitting next to Arlene. This show was as phony as a $3 bill. And they eventually got caught.

Mark Blass - Yes, there is, and you can research it just like I did. HINT: There are two books out on how What's My Line and I've Got A Secret were rigged. It was fallout from the "Quiz Show" scandal which was featured in a movie.

Not so. I asked Hazel herself. If this show had to pick the contestants with unusual jobs from among the panel's relatives, the show would have had a very short run. Writers write anything to sell a book. Who is going to refute the claim? The show was totally spontaneous on Hazel's part and she had never meet Gable.
