Capulin Volcano is a dormant, and well-preserved cinder cone volcano, part of the Raton-Clayton volcanic field. The monument was established in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson, and is part of over 100 volcanoes in the area. Visitors can hike up to the top of Capulin Volcano, where they will have unobstructed views of the volcanic field, and surrounding Sangre De Cristo mountains.
