Though in California, the law has recently changed (look up Prop 47), you're right, this is ridiculous. I was an active addict in the 90's and I once got 3 years for possession of meth, and I also got 18 months for possession of pot with intent to sell (only 4 months shorter than this guy who stole millions).....hell, I'd do another 3 years for the money he got.

As bizarre as it sounds, you actually want this criminal to thrive so that he can actually pay back what he’s been ordered to pay back and do right by those he wronged. If he’s in the gutter, he’s not doing anybody any good, and I imagine most of those people would rather have money, then satisfaction knowing he’s in the gutter.
