What's so weird about situations like these is that it looks like some black women are taught that if they're with a black man who makes less it's considered "Struggle love". It looks like some black women would try to entertain a relationship where she makes more only if the guy is not black.

I was taught several things growing up: 1. Live within your means. 2. If you’re living together as a couple with a mortgage or rent, ideally try to stay within one person’s salary. That can be difficult these days but that’s the goal. 3. You want to build up your assets. You do that by capital retention. 4. Try to get yourself to a point where you’re not working for your money but your money is working for you!

I feel bad for these situations. My husband makes $70k and is bad with finances. I make a little more than 2x and I am really good with finances and wealth building. I manage our finances and we've been 95/95 since we got married (We put a few hundred to the side every month individually to purchase whatever we want). We've paid off $100,000 worth of debt, purchased a home, purchased cars cash, have increased our net worth 6 fold, and we've done it together. Every promotion I get or he gets goes in the family pool and we both benefit. Its not a me or you thing, it's an us thing. No matter what your individual income are, you're better off building together.

By all metrics, I was an honor roll student in high school, Captain of the Track Team, went to state championships 4x1 relay (placed 2nd), volunteered, and was a First Aider at a Boys Scout camp. Earned my Bachelors of Science degree and an MBA and guess what, all the BW I know except my wife showed more respect to WM who were lazy and mediocre. I’ve seen this in the workplace for years. Among all races BW are the least wanted for wives. only 1 in 5 or 20% can provide enough value to make a man propose. Most, 80%, just let men run thru then leave them with more babies. Not many women can deal with making more money than their man. The external pressure is one thing. Then she may feel used depending on the relationship dynamics. This lady seems to see the potential and appreciate other qualities. At the same time, society is going to dictate to her that she needs to be with someone who is "on her level". If she keeps pushing him then she will eventually push him away. A man has to grow at his own pace. If I make a bad move or rush into something based on my own decision, i can live with it. It's harder to live with if you rush into something based on someone else pushing you when you're not ready and it ends up being a bad move. This reminds me of the movie, Dissapearing Acts. Dude couldn't get his act together until he was away from her because she was enabling him and also emasculating him at the same time. Two people can love each other but also not be good for each other. People can also be incompatible based on where they are in life at the time. A man who is trying to grow and accomplish his goals really shouldn't be focused on a relationhip unless the chick is supportive and understanding of what he's trying to do. Supportive doesn't mean constantly nagging about what he has going on and what he's doing to accomplish his goals. That becomes annoying real quick. I wish them the best though.

It's highly unlikely she will ever find a man on her level,so she is using this man to extract a "genetic contribution" to HER children. Once she has the number of children she wants, and gets them to a certain age,she will probably discard him,and return to the streets from which she came. Call it the "Keke Palmer" syndrome.

@@JonThompson-bt8rw It's possible for us to feel that way because there are some men who use women as their step-up woman to help them get to their goals and then discard them after they accomplish those goals. @ContextReallyMatters

@JonThompson-bt8rw I think it's natural for anyone who is carrying the brunt of the weight to question if they're being taken advantage of but especially a woman because socially, we have been conditioned that the man should bare those responsibilities. Some women are fully aware that they are being used and don't mind the arrangement as long as they are getting what they want out of it. That's usually the cougars who are financially stable who trick off on younger men. They may be professional women or they could be divorcees who got a nice settlement in the split and just have a lot of disposable income. Another woman might feel used though because he gave her the impression that her carrying the brunt of the weight would only be temporary. He could actually be genuine in telling her that but it's just taking longer than he anticipated. It's like if a family member comes to you and asks to stay with you for a month until they get on their feet. You agree and a month turns into six months. Now, they might be actually trying but just not having any luck. It might cross your mind that they're taking advantage of you. Especially if you don't actually see them trying. All of their efforts might be out of your sight. While you're at work, they've submitted a hundred applications, updated their resume, called and asked around but you come home and all you see is them sitting on the couch eating the last of the turkey that was left in the fridge that you had designs on having once you got off.

It amazes me that many women claim they want to be equals. However, when the income earnings or provider provisions come from the women many can't handle it. Doesn't her love for the man involve more than his earning potential. Why can't she do for him what she would expect from him if their incomes were reversed. If the incomes were reverse she most likely expect him to hold every thing down for them. She would want a joint account with full access to their money. She would expect him to trust her enough to be totally transparent about his earnings and her access to it.

Men and women are different....God made husbands to be providers for their families so even though a woman may be making more in the relationship, she still looks for financial stability in a husband... This is also the reason why some men are insecure in relationships with women that earn ALOT more because deep down they know that they are meant to provide. Yes there are some women that wrongfully disrespect their man but also there are men that will get jealous, sabotage or even abuse their woman because she's earning alot more. Also consider this....who puts more emphasis on looks? Men. A woman can be with a man that she doesn't consider all that attractive but look at other traits he may possess like a great personality, financially stable, God-fearing, loving, kind etc.....but for a man....a woman can have ALL those traits and more but if he doesn't find her physically attractive he would not give her an opportunity. Why? Because men and women are different. Having said that, I will say that not every woman is right for every man.....If I'm married then I would see it as OUR income so personally I believe that we should budget together and plan together for our future. I believe in having at least four accounts....One joint for expenses, one joint for savings and at least two (or more) additional separate accounts.

The woman MUST understand that even though she makes $350k her man makes around $80-100k depending on what those bonuses are for the man, he can stand on his own two feet. He can walk out tomorrow and find a new younger, hotter woman with no problem. The chance of the woman walking out and finding a new man making anything close to even what he is making now is slim. Let’s keep in mind that she’s in sales in the software industry, an industry highly subject to layoffs and reorganization based on a number of intervening factors.
