It's nearly impossible to pass on this small track. A runner has to expend an excessive amount of energy just to pass. I can see many times a runner is trying to pass but just ends up giving up.

Serious question about female runners. With some of these races decided by tenths, or even hundredths of a second, doesn't having as much hair as some of these runners do slow them down? The last runner in section 1 for UCLA has so much hair, it looked like it was pulling her backwards. And I've seen the hair weaves some runners have that have to weigh more than a pound, which would seem to be a disadvantage.

Think its more of a distraction, if you imagine running with dangling ear plugs and the to and fro flapping MUST be super distracting.
@jakemccoy

Yeah, but if cutting the hair makes the runner depressed, then the overall effect of cutting the hair is worse.

@@jakemccoy most times it is a weave. :-) Distracting or intimidating, they know why they wear trailing locks.
@jakemccoy

@@gdeec A person who wears a weave is the prime candidate to be depressed for suddenly having short hair. These runners are highly emotional females, not robots. Gotta take that into account. Also, Flo Jo set records with a huge weave and wolverine claws. A lot of female track runners are imitating her for good luck. This seems obvious to me, but I guess I have to say it out loud.

I hate the NCAA. It has destroyed many good athletes' careers. Over using athletes and often Running them out of their disciplines for stupid competitions.

Terrible take, not even remotely true. Are you telling me athletes from all over the world, Olympians and future Olympians alike, come to the NCAA to compete to ruin themselves? Get out of here!
@benden5095

@ryanfitzgerald2816 Yes, are you saying Abby Steiner wasn't over raced, how about Julian Alfred, Matthew Boling, Kevona Davis. Most of the athletes with great potential are never from again after being used up by selfish and inconsiderate coaches and universities.
