Ah! I’ve been waiting for this! So many thoughts. I would love Clear to be on the list but I don’t know if it’s long enough. Headshot is getting a lot of buzz but I’m with Anna that it’s not really my kind of thing. I will be shocked if The Wren, The Wren isn’t there. Loot has been out here for a while and I did not love it, I confess. Vaster Wilds was terrific. Would love to see it on the list. Very excited for Dominoes. I also agree that Julia has a good shot. I loved Tom Lake but I don’t expect to see it on the list (although I would be delighted to be wrong). Hooray for The Fraud! I did not love Let Us Descend but Ward is so talented. Would love to see Charlotte Wood on the list as well. I wonder whether Land of Milk and Honey is more of a Booker-book? And Yellowface may well be there but I was quite let down by it. I would add one wild card, which is Alice McDermott’s Atonement, a stunning book that has flown under the radar. Thanks so much for this video! Can’t wait for the 5th.

Yay, love this annual staple of Women's Prize season. Anna and I have 7 predictions in common, and it wasn't just the obvious ones! 🥳 Solder Sailor is both a book-long panic attack *and* funny. Just an excellent exercise in voice. A must-read and really deserves to be on the longlist. It would be a very worthy winner.

This was so fun to watch. Many of these are on my TBR pile & I’ve added more. …I recently finished Mrs S by K Patrick and was absolutely enthralled by this book-I’ve never felt so immersed into a character’s head. A five star read! I was hoping it would’ve been mentioned, but I’m also new to following this prize & unsure if the author identifies as a woman, so maybe it’s not eligible? If it is eligible, I’ll be rooting for it. Hoping to read more of these titles, and looking forward to see what makes it to the long list. Thank you both for a great video. ♥️ 📚

I look forward to this every year and enjoyed it so much as always!!! I was so interested to hear your thoughts, and it's made me esp keen to read Stone Yard Devotional. For the first year ever I've been on top of it enough over the year to make a stab at some predictions. I'd expect to see The Fraud, Tom Lake (which I LOVED), Julia, The Wren the Wren. I think there may be some more commercial picks - I did like Yellowface even though it was extremely on the nose (got so sucked in!), Good Material by Dolly Alderton is her best yet and has received positive reviews, perhaps Green Dot or Sunburn or Piglet may also make the list? My other guesses include Emma Cline's The Guest, Lady Tan's Circle of Guests, The Rachel Incident (loved), Study for Obedience, Penance, Ordinary Human Failings (not for me but seem popular), A House for Alice, Bellies, Come and Get It, I am Homeless if this is not my home, Hangman, Greta and Valdin, Interesting facts about Space (haven't read yet). This is already too many! tom lake to win x

I'm with you on Julia. Hoping to see that book get nominated so I'll have an excuse to read it (it's almost universally mentioned in every predictions video). Still haven't read Yellowface, but it strikes me as too commercial for the Women's Prize. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Yes to The Vaster Wilds. Yay! I love that book so much (it even prompted me to go back and explore all of Groff's work. Matrix is now the only book of hers that I haven't picked up). As always, this was a delight! I'd love to see The Vaster Wilds and Orbital nominated, as those were among my favorite reads of 2023. I'd be shocked if Davies' Clear gets nominated when West did not (I feel West is a far more arresting read). I've seen so many enticing books mentioned in prediction videos in the last week that I wouldn't dare list all the ones I hope will get nominated so I'll have an excuse to buy and read them, but I will say that The Extinctions of Irena Rey has been on my TBR since October of 2023. I'll most likely buy that book even if it doesn't get nominated.

IIRC the last time I watched this feature you two touched on Demon Copperhead, and David Copperfield and whether or not it makes sense to read them in conjunction, which I did for the most part. I seem to recall there were others wrestling with the choice. For me, I think that reading Copperhead immediately after Copperfield was a mistake because it was too easy to anticipate the plot. I'm wondering if there is any input on this topic? Otherwise, I enjoyed the show but I feel deprived now it's hard for me to be up-to-date on current fiction, but believe it or not I do try. : )

Western Lane was a really good audiobook, because I wasn't sure if I wanted to read it from the page. Linda Grant's book was great too. Stoneyard Devotional, another I've read, it is nuanced and quite gritty. It's set in the region where I live. Not really sure if it's Women's Prize material. I do love her work though. Kate Grenville is another Aus writer who's novel might be eligible this year. I'm keen to read a number of these. Great lists guys.
