The tallest man I dated was 6'3. He was hot too but no better or warmer when he held me than the one shorter than me. Height never makes the man. with reference to the whole 'you have a fat ass' compliments, we normally don't mind it from women because there isn't an element of fear in the same way that there is with men; with catcalling if a guy says that to you and you don't respond well, he could easily react badly or try to harm you. which doesn't happen (often) with women. it's also a case of knowing someone - those two girls are clearly friends; in the same vein if one of my male friends made a joke like that I wouldn't be scared/ offended as I know him and know he won't harm me
@MMKandSSK
4 жыл бұрын
Jake Lee of course they shouldn’t be, no one should be calling out names to people on the street that they don’t know. But as a woman it doesn’t matter what a man looks like, if he catcalls/ approaches you aggressively, you have to Immediately go into defence mode, it’s built into us for protection. This doesn’t happen to men on the same capacity, unless of course a 6’5 bodybuilder woman approaches, but this is silly to consider as it’s such a small minority. You think you’re speaking “facts” but you’re just turning the narrative to create a false victim hood towards men that they just don’t experience on a daily basis in the same way women do.
@MMKandSSK
4 жыл бұрын
Jake Lee first of all thank you for being so condescending! It wasn’t lost on me. Second of all your message is idealistic and I’d love to live in a world where we are all treated equally, under law or morality. You’re speaking as a person that seems to have been catcalled and harassed by women a lot in their life, and I’m truly sorry if that has been your experience, no one deserves to be harassed on the street or otherwise. But you’re clearly being intentionally ignorant to the fact that stature, appearance and YES gender plays a massive role in how much fear someone has in a particular situation. It’s such an obvious fact that I’m surprised you can disregard it in favour of your idealistic message that everyone is equal and should be treated as such. There are things that women can relate to more, and things that men can relate to more. When it comes to harassment on the street, and even assault, I don’t know any women that haven’t experienced it. I know a handful of male friends that have, but it’s a lot less. My male friends aren’t afraid of walking home alone at night out of fear that a woman might approach them or follow them home, my female friends are. To suggest that the 2 are equivalent is being intentionally ignorant.
@MMKandSSK
4 жыл бұрын

I'm a woman and this is facts. The reason the double standards exist, imo, is because women are insecure and worry constantly about how they look. It's in their nature. Every single female friend of mine worries about her looks, and not a single one of my male friends do. And it makes complete sense, as Andrew brought up evolutionary psychology, women are supposed to put in a lot of effort into their looks in order to have men lining up for them. As for the heightist double standard, women are insecure about being seen as ugly/chubby/lacking boobs or whatever, so they can't stand it when a guy says something like that, but they can talk all day about their standards for men and a guy doesn't call them out on it. In first world countries, societies have become really advanced and people are comfortable so they have time to bitch about non-issues, like how magazines perpetuate unrealistic female body standards. Let me tell you smth, I've never looked at one of those anorexic bitches on a magazine and said "damn, I wish that were me." Never. Why? Because I have a good base of self-esteem. Therefore the problem isn't with the models, it's with the girls not going out there and getting therapy for their self-esteem issues. Not only that, I can't believe women are saying shit like "all bodies are beautiful" nowadays, like tf. We don't gotta lie about things and encourage unhealthy standards.
@Blullaby
4 жыл бұрын
That's definitely not 'in their nature'. That's 100% nurtured. And it's not because your male friends didn't confide in you about their insecurities that they don't have any... My male friends might be from a generation where they open up more as I definitely know about their insecurities. I guess they also have to feel safe asking for advice or being listened to, so that might be just a personality thing. Every PERSON I know worries about their looks. Almost all the guys I can think of that decided to go crazy about sports and nourishing themselves with protein shakes and what not don't do it because they want to or like it : they do it because they feel like they have to to stay relevant and competitive on the dating market. Same reason why women would wear makeup or heels or Spandex / corset / go on diets when it's a pain in the ass.
@Blullaby
4 жыл бұрын
Also 'talking all day long about our standards' ? Most hetero women are not even that selective... It goes more or less like 'not dead broke, not repulsive, not shorter than me, not old enough to be my uncle, somewhat clean, a decent human'. Done. Those are basic 'requirements' that almost all men can have... I hate it when women try to act like we're soooooo difficult all the time and have unrealistic expectations about life just to side with the guys... It's not that black and white.

@yaranayup4623

It depends I’m tall for a girl at 5’9 so most guys want shorter girls and feel insecure when with a taller girl so I aim for taller guys but I’m not picky LOOL
@ants5875
3 жыл бұрын
@@yaranayup4623 guys usually like girls with a cute face so as long as your cute and are in decent shape then guys will usually disregard your height and any other body parts. 5’9 is a good height in my opinion anyway you have no need to be self conscious about it. I don’t know where you live but In England girls are usually pretty short so 5’9 is usually a bonus for me because a lot of guys are around my height 6ft2. So being tall for a girl has it’s positives and negatives.

An Ecuadorian coworker of mine got suspended for a week because he commented on this African dude that is notoriously showing his plumber crack. Jokingly, he passed by him with the comment " hey nice ass" in an effort to embarrass him to pull his pants up. Buddy from Ghana took it as a sexual advance and reported him to a union rep. I live in a wee town in Scotland so don't come into much contact with black men. I don't know what it is but when I see black men laughing and getting so excitable, slapping their thighs and jumping out of their seats, I just can't help but laugh. The energy is infectious.

Yeah, it's corny how much of a try hard he is. But leave North America bro, people laugh like this all over the world. The US is funny. People always wanna bring it back to race coz your society is so divided. In Africa we categorise by nationality, region, ethnicity, we don't act like black = the same
@seanmatthewking

H M In the US there is a sort of black culture, so it’s not that different. Of course, there are regional differences in black culture, and how much individuals buy into various cultural aspects varies (like in any culture). But it still makes sense to talk about black culture in America, I think.
@HM-mw7cg

@@seanmatthewking yeah it does. But the problem is when these guys talk about international things (which they do often) or try to talk in very general terms about human behaviour. It's like, the rest of the world isn't the US and most of us don't have the same cultural hangups and divisions that the US does.

I have an idea, if a man or woman looks good tell them they look good (without being a creep or harassing them) if you are said man/woman take the compliment and let it build up your confidence. If someone doesn't look good keep your comments to yourself. People act like giving them a compliment is a bad thing. Just accept it and move on

Lofl the energy between these two will always be perfect 😂 And the only problem with Andrew’s theory is that beauty standards change from culture to culture. The west has its own beauty standards that have been spread through media. If it were all down to some evolutionary instinct we built up over millions of years then they wouldn’t be so malleable. Culture wouldn’t matter as much but clearly, as all the research suggests, it matters a lot.
