Let me list the things I was overwhelmed by, before I cannot recall them all! The models of tvs with scenes inside in the museum The beautiful colours of the fabric samples hanging up The depth of the blue dye colour on the fabric The Grandmother making the fabric on the loom. Imagine her profound knowledge! And last, but very much not least, your beautiful family and you. xx

Oh Miriam, I am so enjoying these videos of beautiful Chinese artisanal crafts! The dying is just beautiful, and I love all the patterns, and seeing how they have sewn the cloth to get the different patterns, and watching the weavers. This is magical. Your scarf is beautiful. I would so love to go and see this for myself, and the museums. And always you show such delicious looking food! LOL! Woad - yes, of course! Used for centuries in dying. Thanks for sharing this beautiful art!

Hi from France. So interesting but we have exactly the same tradition in south of France . From the XVth century "PASTEL" which is a blue obtain with a plant with yellow flowers. It is a green mixture and after soaking the fabric , drying in the air the fabric becomes blue . This fantastic blue last for ever. That plant made the fortune of PAYS DE COCAGNE all around Toulouse in south of France. So thank you to show us the chineese tie dye.💙💙💙💙💙💙💯💯💯💯

Looking forward to the mini documentary. I'm a huge fabric fan and used to do a lot of batik and tie dying. I even tie died my curtains for my first home. Sadly, sun can be brutal on hand dyed fabrics. I especially love mud cloth technique and loved making dresses with the heavy fabric. Plz include what they use to set the dyes and weight and content of fabric.

@@MiriamFollinBut *"tie-dyeing"* (with the E) is correct! Just FYI, *"dying"* without an E means "the process of losing your life" - it's like "die - ing." So basically, if you were "tie-DYING" then it would mean something like you wore a necktie so tightly that you lost your life 😵 Looks like you all were saved by an E! 🤭

Lovely video. Looking forward to the mini documentary. But I have a suggestion: Next time when filming artwork in a museum, may I suggest you use a different camera angle? Because it wasn't possible to properly see the prints. Also because you moved so quickly. I think a 90 degree angle to the artwork would probably be better. I would have liked to see some of the dragons properly.

I used to live in Vietnam when I was young. Oh the rain was so peaceful!!! Each time there was a rain and it was over and there were still some drops. I would hear this bird sing! The bird sang "Thin lot Suoi" and in Ngai it meant Heaven pour down rains. Tears built in my eyes because of how beautiful it was! So peaceful during the rainy season Where can I buy the products made by her? I want one.

I have 25% Chinese Dai in me and the other 75% must be Han. Cause my last name belongs to the Yellow Emperor's great great great grandchild's last name. Though not sure why it doesn't fit my 75% to any ethnic group in China but it only states South Chinese. I am still very confused. Not only that, your husband looks quite similar to me. So cool! My DNA traces back to Yunnan and GuangXi. The ~Cantonese mooncake, the cake that is wrapped in leaves that look like bamboo leaves though they are not bamboo leaves, and the decoration of the house with those red papers. I also used to speak Ngai and Cantonese. I went to Mandarin schools when I was a kid in Vietnam. Now I am in the USA so I kind of know 5 languages.
