Now just add DPCM samples

DPCM vocals would be neat, let alone MMC5 8-bit ones.

DPCM is already being used for drums, so unless you want to use the VRC6 and/or Sunsoft 5B pulses as DACs via the volume register, MMC5 PCM is the only option. Hopefully Furnace is involved. Oh also, if you're making a 5B song in Furnace or E-Famitracker, I implore you to use an AY8930 as the AY variant (The Gimmick Sunsoft 5B mapper is known as the YM6603, and inside it is an instance of the YM2149, which is almost unchanged from the original General Instrument chip from 1979). This nets you pulse widths beyond square, 5 bits of volume resolution rather than 4, the ability to use noise and/or envelopes on more than one channel, the ability to control the "texture" of the noise via AND/OR gates (which can come in very handy for making PWM or Atari sounds), as well as other bonuses. AY8930 chips are compatible with machines using original AYs or variations. On Sunsoft FME-7, 5A, or 5B cartridges, it's possible to use an external AY chip even if you're using a Gimmick donor cartridge. So with some soldering, you can put an AY8930 into a 5B (or something able to be turned into a 5B), on hardware. So if you're making Furnace 5B songs, I recommend upgrading the AY variant to an AY8930. Also for the VRC7, it's possible to solder an external YM2413, YM2423, or YMF281 to it (or use a desoldered VRC7 as a special Lite OPLL in something like an MSX). Basically, the Yamaha-based Famicom audio expansion chip mappers are very moddable, and then there's the third one, the Family Noraebang cart. It's an unofficial karaoke system from South Korea for Daewoo Famiclones (in spite of South Korea getting an official NES closest to the PAL version, known as the Hyundai Comboy), though it works elsewhere. This device has a YM2413 clone (no different patches), and it has a cartridge slot of its own for adding new songs. Fitting it in a front-loading NES requires a Blinking Light Win and a long 60-to-72pin adapter, or if you prefer, a 60-72pin adapter of more common length put into a Game Genie on such a console.

@@JESRShort Oh well. Furnace Tracker covers having MMC5 samples. If anyone goes that route, I did some testing and found that its PCM channel can handle 8-bit, 32 KHz samples without a problem.
