I got some black locust from my Mom and Dad’s farm that had been sitting on the ground for over 5 years. It burned but I think it was too wet. I got some better quality black locust to try this season. Excited to see how it does.

Wet Locust is hard to get moving even if it is seasoned... But once it goes, it should burn a good long while.

Black locust is by far my favorite firewood with its lower moisture and high btu content, I don’t even bother with oak with the high moisture content of it but I get all the firewood rounds I want delivered for free from tree services and I burn anything including pine and cedar since nobody wants it and I prefer softwood over oak any day as it is not as heavy and I can process it faster and not hurt my back

Locust wood makes exceptional fence posts. As long as you peel the bark from it before you put it on the ground. It'll last for 50 plus years without rotting.

Nice vid! I LOVES me some black locust! I have about 5 cords, I hand-split, that I got from neighbors who took out their OLD trees! I did them a solid by "taking it off their hands"! I'm in the Pacific NW & black locust are abundant here! I have MANY large straight branches I'm keeping for axe & tool handles! I love the (satisfying) sound of it splitting! Nice vid! Whereabouts are you in the US? Take care! 🌲🪓🌲🪓🌲🪓🌲🪓

Black Locust is considered invasive out there. I wish all invasive trees were as useful... Mid South

Please tell me, what kind of wood is this? support your ax and channel. My grandfather left me an American-made ax. and I'm keeping it as a very valuable keepsake. I once heard him say that white ash is an optimal choice for the handle of an ax. my grandpa is gone...i always keep it and will restore it someday. thanks for your good video, tutorial. happy new year and support your content 156+ 01☺
