Does that intake pipe nipple press in or is there an O-ring. Mine popped out trying to take the hose off to drain my fluids. It’s not pressed in since I can put it in and out by hand. Hoping I didn’t break it somehow by hand. Any help would be appreciated! Good video by the way!

It should be braised on. If it popped off you may be able to get it rebraised or depending on the diameter thread the hole and put a good quality brass nipple on there.

My splitter has slowed down recently. I still have force but no speed, meaning cycle time is slow, but I can still go through big oak rounds. I’m guessing that the the low pressure by-pass is clogged open?

By the sounds the 1st stage bypass is not acting correctly. I didn't get into that portion when I was working the pump. There should be a bolt or screw with a spring behind it and a ball. When the pressure reaches a certain point the check valve closes allowing the second stage to build pressure. If you decide to take that portion apart pay close attention for any shims that might be in there and ensure the order of reassembly is the same as disassembly.

@@southernyankeehomestead3230 disassembled no issue. I took all the parts out and cleaned. Is there way to know the number of turns the screw should take on reinsertion? I should have counted on the way about.

You will need a hydraulic pressure gauge on the high pressure side for adjustment to do it correctly. Hypothetically you could turn the screw halfway and then adjust once running. Prior to splitting wood see if the speed has increased. If it hasn't back the screw out until it does. Just be careful not to loosen it too far and have it pop out (under pressure). Once you have the high speed place a piece of wood on the splitter and turn the screw in until the secondary (high pressure) kicks in. Then it will just be back and forth a little bit to fine tune it. This is assuming that there isn't anything else wrong with the pump.

Wait did you end up fixing and finding parts for it or am I better off trying to find a new pump? Lol Im planning on taking mine off and asking around a couple places and people I know. Idk what else to do with it tonight.

I can't say if you're better off fixing the pump or not. I can say that if you try to fix the pump you aren't out any money. And if you dont succeed at finding the problem you can still buy a new one.

My splitter has been breaking the coupler quickly. Any idea?

Does your pump spin freely? And what's your definition of break? Spins the setscrew out? Breaks the woodruff or bar stock key? Or breaks the ears off?

@@southernyankeehomestead3230ty. It was breaking the gear ears off. The coupler between the motor and pump. But I have sold it since. Thanks again.

Ahh! You didn't show how you removed the pulley underneath...Ahh...what a b!tch this is being. At least the pump looks the same...on the outside. Those missing clips...You may want to consider looking in the reservoir. The splitter I'm working on had developed a badly leaking ram. Could not disassemble and if I did, I may not had been able to obtain the parts needed. (Swisher) Installed a new ram and fortunately had decided to change the fluid and filter. To my horror the filter looked as if a screwdriver was rammed inside and vandalized the inner. I could hear rattling when shaking the filter. The fluid looks like melted caramels. The pump is the last item I have to remove for cleaning and hopefully that's all. That pulley is not cooperating.

@modifyman6977 what pulley? It's a direct coupling using a lovejoy coupler.

The splitter I have uses a pulley system hidden under the deck. The gear/pulley puller I was using eventually bent the pulley. So I cut it off. $20 pulley...

@modifyman6977 ah got ya. Mine is a horizontal engine not a vertical engine setup.
