Hi Chris, it's amazing to watch you splitting the oak. I can now tell by the sound of the wood when it is split whether it is dry or wet. Pretty facinating. I love the clicking sound dry wood makes when it hits another piece of dry wood. Not a thud, but a definate clicking sound.

What do you think of keeping the farm store splitter after the new splitter comes, whenever that is, as a backup to the commercial grade one? Instead of noodling, use the farm store splitter in the vertical position to bust up the ones you can't life and then move them to the Ultra. Thoughts?

If I can see a problem with your Eastonmade it's that you produce a lot of free kindling. It doesn't seem such a big deal until you consider you could be making a further 5 to 10% with no extra effort and your cookie bin is another ? percentage off your bottom line. Australian bulk firewood suppliers in my experience don't have cookie bins because it all ends up in your order and the standard length is somewhere between 12 to 18". We buy by volume at about $140.00 cu m2 where I am (semi rural) I've never considered myself a skinflint but perhaps I am. I watch a few farming channels and it's amazing the technology, expense and effort they put in to account for every seed they plant and harvest. ps I don't want you making any special trips but I'll give you a standing order for all the cookies you've got to save you driving around Australia with an empty trailer so long as I get mates rates on the delivery fee.

@dethmaul
3 жыл бұрын
@@thefirewooddoctor Well yeah a four way and an 8 way will beat a single wedge lol. I think i found that video, he's not comparing the machines themselves. He's comparing how efficient they are for a business. I want to know how strong a kinetic is. Certain ones are advertised as 'X ton comparable', but people say they don't have enough torque to get through knotty or bad wood.
