Every time someone comes to our house they always ask where are your daughter’s toys? Because wooden toys and natural material toys blend so well with our decorations and furniture that is practically unnoticeable which is another a plus! Thank you Sarah

I made a Waldorf style doll for my niece when she was born. I took me a while to make her but she is still very much loved and my niece is almost 7. I loved every min. of making the doll.

Thank you for being there for me in the early years. You were an inspiration and much needed support in a world of plastics and other toxins living in a place where everyone is trying to keep up with the Jones' and when I was trying to raise my child with anything simple and non-toxic. I don't have anymore little ones, but I still subscribed to you because I want to give you any support that I can. Thank you and bless you.

Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing this list. I currently teach at a main stream preschool, but have a great interest in Waldorf education. During our small group time I’ve been experimenting with setting out toys that are very opened ended and made out of natural materials. I have to say I was shocked at the difference in the children’s play. They weren’t walking around mindlessly, grabbing toys from other children or even asking for a turn for the toy another child had. They were playing collaboratively ! There was also a feeling of calmness in the room. My favorite moment involved three children and some large wooden blocks. They lined up the blocks and took turns jumping off, then started holding hands and dancing together. They then pushed them against the wall and all sat down. It was so beautiful to watch. (Children are 1.5-2 years)

Sultana Beads I’m very curious what all the toys you used were! We have three but boy cousins that age right now and they are always fighting over toys.

Ive always wanted more natural toys for my kids, but family members buy them typical plastic junk toys frequently. In 5 years (3 kids) I’ve bought less than 10 toys for them, yet they have buckets full.

Gosh this is me and I find it so overwhelming… the pro of wooden toys is that they don’t make awful noises 😅

Hi Sarah, I've had quite a bit of exposure in Waldorf education in the past year. I think their values are wonderful and other schools should learn from them. However, I have recently heard from some families that have left a Waldorf school about the deeper philosophy that Steiner believed in regarding reincarnation and witchcraft and these were taught to the student (e.g. spells, being claimed as poetry). I just wanted to hear your experience and thoughts on the topic.

I was reading about that today. I also would like some insight on this.

As a Waldorf educator, this is not something that I have ever heard. Yes, spirituality is a large part of Waldorf, as it is part of the whole being, but no witchcraft over here ;) I hope that helps!

Spells are much the same as prayers: they're beautiful words said to bring about a hope or a wish. I wonder if the families would have the same reaction to prayers being claimed as poetry? And while the idea of reincarnation can have many different levels, a basic one of flowers returning in the spring seems very in-line with Waldorf teachings around the rhythm of the seasons.

Thank You so much! I concerned about toys simulate animals and fruits. You can give some consciousness about that? Is necessary or not because I think childrent will learn more when they live nearly with animal and garden. Thankyou.

Hi Sarah! I was talking to a friend about this difference of behaviour in children when they play with plastic and when they play with wooden toys and we had some questions. Do you know why does it happens? Is there any racional explanation? Can the material really make any difference in the child concentration and calm? Why? I've just started studying Waldorf and i'm really curious about this wooden toys point.

Yep BROKEN! My girls are pretty rough so with the few wooden toys we do have I’m a little frantic like, “BE CAREFUL! Don’t draw on these! Careful!” But I so love the wooden toys, just so darn expensive.

Wooden toys are so much easier to fix when they do get broken. I cannot tell you how many toys I have thrown away for the inability to do a simple repair.

2021: Douglas Fir tree was taken down in our backyard. At that point in time attended a college Sculpture class. I used the Tree-root for my semester project. The wood always feels smoother to the hand than any plastic toy. FYI: The Fir trees are used to sculpt life size saints (in churches).

Hi there, I am glad you are adding new videos, I've know of your store less than a year now so I'm excited to see current videos. I love the toys and products you carry and I feel like I want to buy everything! Haha! But I also know financially and space wise that is not possible. My question is, are there certain toy categories where I should provide a few from each for my child (1 1/2 years old). For example 2 or 3 musical instruments, 2 or 3 puzzles etc. What are the categories and how many is sufficient in each? He has quite a few toys, but I may want to narrow down and make sure the ones we have are quality toys as well as meet his needs in the different aspects of play he may be experiencing now and in the near future. Thank you so much for your time!

I completely agree with everything you said - but I was wondering what you have to say about splinter incidents? I have been told by multiple friends that their children have gotten splinters from wooden toys.

Depends on the quality of wood. High quality wont splinter easily. Cheap pine will.
