Thanks Nina. Our sigung was always concerned about the pure passing on of his knowledge. I have always found your videos both accurate and easy to understand. The dummy has been my best training partner the last year. No mask and no complaining. Keep the feeds coming. Yours and our teachers would be very proud of you and what you have continued to share. You can’t put a price on what you have accumulated in your learning. Best regards

We also have the same steps in order to get to the Wooden Dummy, we need to know Biu Djie , and we also need to have passed at least 3 parts of Chi Sau, I just have to say it is not a limitation it is actually to prepare you to understand the Wooden Dummy work out, then later on when you work out with the wooden Dummy you could apply those angles in to Chi Sau and vise versa (The Yin and Yang concept, Hardness the wooden Dummy and softness the Chi Sau), In weapons is also the same we do Eskrima, then the long pole and finally the butterfly swords of course the Long Pole has its own system and approach, but it was categorized it this way the reason as I said it was not to limit the students but actually to help them understand the movements and the concept it a better way. I thank you again for sharing it is always informative, much appreciated.

Thanks for the pro tips man! Respect from a fellow chunner in the states. I can see (and feel) the proper force and application from my Sifu however, his teaching approach is more of the old school "find out for yourself method" which I do appreciate for most things. It is nice every now and then to have someone like yourself breakdown some of the more intimate details to weigh against my own findings. Thanks for the content.

@@MindfulWingChun Sifu, of all the Sifu's teaching here in youtube, you're the only one who explains everything you teach. I've been practicing the first form for 3 years now, 3 times a week (only that form). I just learned it from the old video of Grandmaster Ip Man. The question that comes to my mind is that if I'm doing it right? Its easy to punch or kick or even doing the first form but Its not about punching or kicking for me, its about understanding where to get that force from, understanding the core of it, unleashing power or where to unleash it even in the slightest movement is the most important thing to me. I have watched your videos before up to this day and I can say that I am more relaxed in doing the first form. So I thank you so much for that Sifu. In March i'll move on to the 2nd form applying your teachings. Stay safe always Sifu.

Great video as always. The "wrong" Bong in the Dummy form is there to focus on deflecting [turning aside] the opponent. In application the person charging is "off-set" by the contact and we move in. Since the dummy does not pivot, to approximate the energy we swivel further on the Dummy with the idea of becoming a turnstile to protect our centerline, turn their "spear" and advance along the "side" of their spear [attacking triangular apex.] Our energy should be soft to maintain contact and "springy" rather than hard as you rightly teach. Our hands should be alive, forward and supple; our fingers like a school of minnows darting to "center". Upon conformation of contact, then we send our force and energy, quickly "releasing" to avoid "feedback". I like how you speak of "forearm" energy as being incorrect. Great way to describe it! I hope you your loved ones are well and prospering. Thank you for keeping this vital lineage alive. God bless.

The problem with this type of training is that the doll's arms are at chest level, no one will hit the chest, but on the face where the greatest risk is I would make this doll taller to simulate blows to the face where it is reality, real life.

Its good to practice at all heights. The darker dummy behind in the video is much heavier and teller, and we have a 3rd one who's height is in the middle of the 2. That way we have 3 different heights to practice on in our school. Also, once one has achieved the level that I'm talking about in the video, they will be in a 'state' so to focus a little higher of lower is rather natural and effortless
