Chris over at Classic Plastic turned me onto craft acrylics and now I can't wait to start work on my Jo-Han Chrysler Turbine. I'm pretty sure I can get close to the original Bronze/Copper color.

I have that kit too. It's one of Johans best, super detailed! Thanks to Chris, I started using the Craft paints and love them. They have a perfect color for the car that I couldn't find in any other paint types.

We call that first coat a “tack coat”. Anyway, watching this project makes me want to get back into it. I’m in the same boat. I too, use to buy the real thing, when the old stuff was affordable. GTO’s, 4-4-2’s, any old muscle car, but now they are out of reach for the average Joe.

Great job on the paint. By the way. If you use windshield washer fluid instead of water to cut the paint it will dry even fast. You won’t even need the heat gun.

Nice paint work as always Boyd. Just an F.Y.I. I had a severe reaction with Folk Art Look At Me Blue satin finish. It was a two tone job, with Folk Art Pale Gray, then Testors gloss, then the blue, but when I applied the Testors gloss to seal the blue, the paint immediately bubbled up like Alka Seltzer. But just the blue. Chris Cortel commented he had never had a reaction like that and he's the master of craft acrylics.

Nice one Boyd. I know I discussed this with you before, but where exactly did you get that UV flashlight? Is it rechargeable? Can you give me some details?

I got mine from Solarez. It's on their website along with the battery charger. It's very good quality and made to work with their UV resin.

@@TrekWorks Thank you Boyd. I thought it looked like the one they sold, but didn't have their logo on it like the picture on Solarez' site.

So is one coat of satin clear enough to protect the paint before decaling? Or is it better to apply more than one?

That's really cool. What's the name of the paint again and is it at Hobby Lobby?

Hobby Lobby carries a number of brands of craft paints, they are all good. I use the really cheap windshield washer fluid for thinning, the blue dye doesn't bother.

This brand is Anitas. I order it online from Hobby Lobby. It's less than $1 a bottle.
