I was given a large piece of oak a while back, it had a lot of cracks in it but it was really old and heavy, I had it in mind to turn a large bowl with a rim that shows the tooling of the hand hewn beam, it presented lots of problems while turning, from its weight, hardness, cracks and stability, fortunately I was able to safely get it turned.
Be aware of the condition of the wood that you are working with as cracks and voids can present a real danger.
I have been woodturning since 2013, I love it as a creative outlet.
For me it has been a journey, from my great great grandfathers wooden bowl that i own to my fathers the community or woodturners is great, there is lots of help and support out there available at the touch of a button. don't be intimidated or scared to ask questions no matter how basic, most of all be safe in your workshop, follow all safety rules and guidelines.
use channels such as mine as inspiration and entertainment.
it is recommended to get proper training with power tools to prevent accidents
most of all remember to be creative and have fun
safe turning..
