@@DropbearWoodworks, thanks for the message. That's disappointing that they shrink. Do you think since they're pulled from bogs they need to be dried for years before they can be worked ? Or maybe kiln dried ? Sure was a beauty though.

That is a beautiful pipe bowl. Only thing is, where were the threads to screw it on the pipe ? How does that work ? I love my Morta pipe and would love a large bowl like that for my Falcon's. Beautiful work.
@DropbearWoodworks
4 ай бұрын
Thanks Larry. The o-ring on the bottom fits into the threads of the stem securing the bowl. The o-ring also serves to create a seal just like the ones on a factory falcon bowl. I made this video many years ago now and have learnt through trial and error that morta is not a good material for falcon bowls as over time morta will shrink. I’ve had to do a few repairs to mine to make it work. Hence I don’t make these anymore.

Still nice and nearly black in color , haven't smoked it yet but the air hole and bowl seems ok. Thanks for sharing Glen take care

You, sir are quite talented. That's brilliant. How do you like the Falcon to smoke? I've been thinking of picking on up but haven't pulled the trigger yet.
@DropbearWoodworks
8 жыл бұрын
G'day Amy! I absolutely encourage you to pick up a Falcon. They are probably the most adaptive pipe one the market. I say that not just because I make custom bowls for them but because of things like affordability, variety of shapes and because of the rugged build quality. You can throw those suckers around your workspace or truck (if you have one) and not worry about breaking it. One stem and a few bowls and you're set for a full day of tobacco bliss! Lol. Thank you for your kind comments and for stopping by. I subbed your channel by the way. Keep up the videos. You have reminded me of some great points of interest regarding our hobby. Be well, Glen.

The base of the falcon pipes is threaded. How do you insert your bowl that is not threaded? Thanks for your answer Best Regards
@DropbearWoodworks
4 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you for watching and for your question. The answer is that I use an o-ring in place of threads. Falcon use a proprietary thread that I can not duplicate. The o-ring size that I use is sufficiently big enough that it squeezes into threads on the stem and also creating the necessary seal that falcons need. I cannot remember the size off hand but if you really need to know I can get that information for you. There’s another falcon bowl video on my channel that will demonstrate the method that I use. It works well. Thanks and take care. Glen.

Hi Glen, just wondering how to get in contact with you about a project. I’ve been looking at morta pipes and am interested in getting one (or having one made). Do you have the equipment to do a sandblast finish.
@DropbearWoodworks
4 жыл бұрын
Martosbasslines hi. Sorry I don’t have a sandblasting set up nor do I make conventional pipes. I occasionally make the odd briar bowl for a Falcon now only. I don’t work with morta anymore as it is too unstable. Thanks for your interest though.
