I think this is what I'd call a pretty failure... :)
If you've been a longtime viewer, you'll notice that this project was started quite some time ago in my former house. I was hesitant on whether or not I wanted to upload this as it didn't quite come out the way I was expecting it to (so I sat on this video for about 8 months), but with how well the finishing system has been working on my more recent projects, I decided to refinish this piece and share it with you all. My original idea for this came from seeing actual cherry blossom trees at a nearby university campus that were in full bloom. I thought that, by mixing pink and white mica pigments, I could maybe create a similar look. I also thought that by adding in some broken pieces of wood, it might even lend a "tree" like appearance as well. In the end, though, the wood pieces really don't look like branches at all (in my opinion), and just look more like randomly placed pieces of wood. I think if I really wanted a "branch" look, I maybe should have used real twigs, and a lot of them, too. Oh well; you live and you learn! With all that said, I do really like how the pink and white blended together; it was the exact look I was going for, so that's great knowledge for future projects.
Let me know down in the comments below what you think of this piece!
