Elm, elm, em, elm, elm. Did I mention elm? I love this partly because it's not walnut, but mostly because elm is a tree I can get in some volume in Japan. There is a species of elm here called Zelkova and I managed to get a 3m 1,200kg trunk of one that is sitting my yard right now, waiting for me to put my horizontal bandsaw together, and build my solar kiln to dry it in. Just today got it up on blocks so it's off the ground it's been resting on for the past 3 weeks as I just haven't had time to move it. (Also, I move all my wood without a forklift, because you can't drive a forklift in Japan even in private residence, without a forklift license). So looking forward to turning this into some cool stuff! Great videos as always Cam, I'm making my making space now. Hopefully soon, first videos coming. Scott from Japan

Hi Cam ! Love your new anthology video. I’ve watched pretty much all of them before but it’s a joy to watch you perfect your craft over the years. You are an amazing woodworker artist ! Thank you for sharing your passion your talent & knowledge. I’m not a woodworker myself 😆 but absolutely love the stunning end result and watch the process you go through. Your commentary is brilliant and very funny. Many times hilarious! 😂 It’s great to watch you & Scott go back and forth. 😂 Don’t worry about the negative comments out there. Haters are going hate. Fakers are going to fake. What can I say 😅. Keep up your fantastic work!!! Thank you 🙏🏽 Oh by the way, on the favorite wood 🪵 species: it’s a tough call because they’re all so different and beautiful - and your work highlights their beauty, makes their beauty pop !!! The mappa burl was stunning in both versions - black and natural. The elm too. All the Black walnut tables are amazing. Tough to choose. All of them stunning 🤩🥰😍

I am probably the oddball here but I like the Elm table in particular because it is not a usual wood used in builds and in part I liked the shape of the large trees and the shade they would provide. We have an elm tree that is still in great shape and growing out in the middle of the cow pasture. The reason it survives is that it is so isolated from disease vectors. Anyway love this video of all the different projects. Keep up the great work.

Hey Cam, I recently found your youtube and have now watched nearly every video haha. Rounding them out with these two Anthrology videos you posted and after watching so many videos i had an interesting question. It seems like you almost exclusively purchase wood from the same distributor and i was wondering if you have ever looked into other distributors in different regions of the US to source wood from. I fully understand the massive advantage of being able to place your hands on the wood and see it in person but at the same time i think theres an advantage to having a wide source of vendors. The main reason i ask this is ive seen pieces at my local shops that seem like very nice pieces but the price often seems to be much less than what you pay for some pieces. I know your picking top notch piece but do you think theres a chance that you sometimes pay more due to the vendor you buy from?

My favorite wood type (s): I'm torn between that beautiful Myrtle wood, Spalted Maple and Claro Walnut: absolutely gorgeous woods. I also love Redwood, but from what I remember as a teenager soft woods don't like intricate detail. Albeit the stuff I had to work with was what my dad could afford to purchase me back then which consisted of a fancy-looking but very brittle X-Acto knife set, Elmer's glue (the AOL of the glue world, am I right?) and the Talc of the wood world: Balsa, lol. Anyway, I love how-to videos myself, so I would love to see more of those from you when you have the time to put them out!

Chasing algorithm's is all about satisfying AI, merely for the benefit of sponsors. While watching Your work is more about us humans and our relationship with the artistry of Nature. I truly respect the difference and enjoyed the entire processes. As for a favorite, that's hard. I suspect it would be the Claro Walnut. The Burnt Wood table You made a couple of years ago was my absolute favorite but was a mere flash in this video, so I'm not sure that it counts. Both the Redwood Slab and the Mappa Burl (with the epoxy topcoat) tied for second place. Not sure, I got that right, the subtitles are often just another product of AI, and (K)not always terribly accurate. Always love Your product, but the walk thru process that You share with us is Priceless. The Envy You get from small people is 'their' burden to carry, Not Yours. The fact that You CAN create such beauty for the benefit of others, is Great. The fact that You DO create such beauty for the benefit of others, is AWESOME !! Thank You, for that !! 💜🙏💜 Namaste

Quercus virginiana, live oak is the most energy dense native wood species in North America, with slow growth and pervasive gnarly grain. Maybe most challenging for woodworking as it is very hard and grain direction shifts extremely in even relatively straight sections of timber. I ve built many tube furnaces in the past, and the cheapest way i found to fit flanges to the end of the tube is to simply paste a kf nipple flange to the end with epoxy resin. Some 3M resin are optimize for high temperature ( up to 250C) and it is plenty good for such application. For the tube, you should use an external ceramic tube for winding your nichrome wires, and nf internal tube on which you can fit you flanges. This way you don t have to start over if the inner tube breaks. Great videos though!

Commenting in any metric measurement works as it is easily converted from there, 1.8m is 1800mm so takes no working out, as a woodworker in the UK I always stick to using mm, but get work sheets sent through in all different dimensions, even some on the same piece, like 3m by 2', yes it really happens.

Thanks for these amazing videos. I really appreciate your effort in trying to please us Europeans with the conversions from bananas to real SI units. But I have to admit that at least here in Denmark, within woodworking we often stick with imperial measurements. Most often for dimensions of pieces of wood when ordering them. Newer for final cutting length etc. 😊 So don't worry about converting when describing outer standard wood dimensions. Keep up the fantastic work. And shout out to Scott for the great camera work!
