How is it that I planted supermarket potatoes in pots a few years ago and now I have woody nightshade plants in some of my pots ? people have asked me what i'm growing, and i tell them " i'm growing potatoes " then they reply , " those are rather strange looking potato plants, I've not seen any like that before " I watched many of your videos and accidentally stumbled on this one, and had to watch it again very closely as my plants are identical looking with identical leaves, identical hanging purple and yellow centre spike flowers followed by identical berries that start green, go yellow and end up red in late autumn. they are also a favourite with bees, second only to blackberries and raspberries ( bramble ) and I was starting to get suspicious as my potato plants seem to survive freezing winter perfectly fine and are thriving. mid June now here in Northern UK and the purple flowers are just starting to open, late this year but 2024 has been much colder and wetter than usual. i've also watched potato videos and my plants, flowers and berries do NOT look like any potato plant video i've seen on u-tube.

@@homeiswhereourheartis it was a great city in times past. When I was a child it was a beautiful city and now it's a ghost town whole sections of it are completely missing haven't been torn down and burnt out it's in a terrible state. It had a rich heritage as a Native American stronghold before it became Detroit one of the largest known burial grounds for the Native Americans was raped down at the Detroit River AJ gigantic burial mound was bulldozed into the Detroit River to make room for industry it was a absolute tragedy. I have research Native American movement throughout Michigan and documented through artifacts meticulously the history of the tribes moving up from Detroit across Michigan to the mid Michigan area where I moved to and up through upper Michigan there were three major strongholds and a super highway of rivers. This is where I got interested in the plants that they used for medicines originally. And then I told you the story about my alright neurological condition that brought me to your channel.

Think I might have stumbled across some of this today, at first I though it may be cherry plum, the berries are green and red it is climbing blackberry Bush and it's leaves are widened heart shaped so not exactly like the ones you have in this video, I dodnt get a good look at the flowers, trying to reference it but still a bit unsure what it is.

Atropa belladonna - Michigan Flora. Atropa belladonna L. Native of the Old World, cultivated as a drug plant (though no longer much in the United States), and very rarely escaped. Collected only in Detroit (Wayne Co.) this is an odd thing to find I did a cursory search and the deadly nightshade and this is what I found

Yeah, in times passed many poisonous plants were used in attempts to get "high" but this comes from the effect of taking in poison creating effects such as hallucinations. These plants ultimately became unpopular because you'll likely die rather than get high.

Hi guys , msg to all Earthlings..did u also know that the deadly nightshade family is a top inflammatory foodstuff causing swelling and stiffness amongst sugar wheat alcohol caffeine and dairy ? In moderation..though.. a lil of what you fancy 🥰.. but seriously potatoes aubergines tomatoes peppers and chillies are rife in the western diet are one the main causes of Arthritis, as a physiotherapist once advised when I was showing telltale signs of osteoarthritis .. I quit smoking too...it's not just bad for lungs, the rest of your body will start to pack up too.. Anyway happy foraging ! Thankyou for your blogs, heart crew 😄🦡💜🌿🦊🎶

Wouldn't that be advisable to try to remove it if possible, burn the plants when cut down. There's no purpose in having this plant, is there?

Oh, I see, the bees collect the pollen . It's so pointless to design a plant which is poisonous to humans!! Hello God! What's going on?😂

@@E-Kat actually many of the poisonous plants are used to make modern medicines. Atropine, an emergency cardiac medicine, is made from the active ingredient in Belladonna. God gave it a purpose. It’s up to us to discover it.
