This past Sunday morning we visited another very good friend of ours, one of Laurel's own sons--Pastor Jaymar Jackson of the Judah Missisionary Baptist Church in Laurel (903 S. 6th Ave.). Pastor Jackson and I go way back, and when I say way back, I mean since childhood, back to the days of "Youth Explosion" (somebody knows what I'm talking about). He is a man who was born to preach, and accepted his calling early in life. At 41 years of age, he has now been a servant of the Lord in the capacity of preaching the Word for 18 years. To say we enjoyed ourselves at Judah would be an understatement--the choir ("Voices of Judah") is immaculate, the people enthusiastic in their praise, and Pastor Jackson brings the Word of God like no other! At one point early in the service, a "holy dance" was initiated, during which you'll notice Evangelist Everett unable to contain herself! And though I tried to cover up as much as I could in the edits, if you notice the camera shake a little, it was because it was hard for me to contain my joy as well! God is Good! And we praise Him for this fine establishment called "Judah"!
The Word of the Week comes from Mark 12:41-44, concerning the woman who got noticed by Jesus when she gave her all! And we should always be ready to give our all to the Master! Many people are not blessed because they aren't willing to be a blessing to others! It is more blessed to give than to receive! Because in the end, God will honor us and give us His favor based upon the condition of our hearts, especially when it comes down to the way we GIVE. Praise God!
