I have tried to use Gutenberg over the last 3 days along with plugins such as Getwid, Stackackle and Qubely. If you just want to build for the desktop experience then it's a nice experience. Quick and easy. BUT , I always build towards mobile-first (that is the way things are going) and this is where the experience turns sour and I go back to a page builder. Gutenberg does not provide a live-preview (which I think you mentioned) and selecting the mobile preview option presents a pretty useless output. So you end up having to fire up a separate window to show your live site after you've made guess-timates in the design browser. This slows me down far too much to be usable when I need to fire up new pages quickly. Unless I'm missing something, then it's a pass for me for now until they get better at the live-preview for *all devices*

I had no ideo that Gutenberg can be so powerfull. Thanks a lot Bjorn! You really opened the gate for a new approach with Gutenberg. I used some addons for Gutenberg but none of them are nearly as good as this plugin.

Hi Kristijan, this plugin is one of the best ones I've found. If WordPress makes the Gutenberg editor experience more WYSIWYG then page builders could be in trouble.

Thank you so much for the calm and clear information. It helped me so much! Do you have a video on how to connect the pages using the same theme you have in this video? I think I understand how to build pages with blocks, but then what? Thanks!

Very good video. I prefer listening to you than the videos from MotoPress. I hope you do more. I am interested in the Custom Post Type block. I also wonder if the Demo content plugin could be used to publish Premade Sites.

Thanks for the great video. May I ask you as a professional, is it possible to make site using both Elementor and Gutenberg? For example I would like to make a site with 2 columns and different blocks in every column, or at least blocks at the one of the columns and elementor type contents in the other column?

Thanks, I was wondering about using Gutenberg as a page builder. Hoping it will load pages fast.

Hi Peter, It should load as fast or faster than page builder pages that have similar elements.

It might not take over all page builders but i think people who don't require use fancy landing pages can surely go for Guttenberg

Interesting concept IF it helps with page speed. Does it? Also, I like full width pages, and at the beginning you seemed to set the page to full width but it was not full width when you showed the live site. Can you comment?

Thanks for this tutorial! I've finally got around to checking the Gutenberg+GetWid Base+GetWid plugin combo out... It's quite impressive! As far as the navigation of the site is concerned, can anyone advice any free plugins or alternative customization options for Header, Footer and element colour scheme (i.e. things like active links)??? I didn't find any of such features in getWid Base (apart from and actual CSS coding , I guess). I would really appreciate the info!

Hi Irbis, What I haven't tried, which may be worth a try, is using GetWid base to import the pages and then switch to a theme like Astra, OceanWP or Neve to get the header/footer/typography abilities. That may remove some of the options from the left side of the page Gutenberg page editor, but it also may not. Like I said, I haven't tried it yet. I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!

@@wplearninglab Thanks for the reply! I will try that :) UPDATE: Astra and OceanWP for some reason shifted all styled blocks to the left. I've decided to just style the header and footer code in the additional CSS field in GetWid Base 'Customize' panel.

Bjorn, thanks for saving me again! I decided to do the Hotel Booking site over using the Oceanica Lite theme with Getwid after discovering this video. Can Getwid replace Elementor? Do you see any issues with that? Would I still require Jetpack etc, as recommended by Motopress?

Great video, looks nice. Quick question. Is there an easy way to see on each page how it will look on desktop, tablet and mobile. Most themes just have a button and you can be viewed as it shows on that type of product. I'm new to WP so apologies if this is a basic question

Appearance --> Themes --> Customize, the selections for phone, tablet, desktop are at the bottom. Is that what you mean? And at 8:55, for sections and blocks.

I am too curious about Speed & I think using Gutenberg Editor will cause less CSS etc files and we will get a lot better speed than other plugins such as Elementor etc. Whats you note on this?
@wplearninglab
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Zia, The pages will not be bloated, like some page builder pages are. But the load speed does depend on how well your site is optimized for speed, where you host your site, etc. But the pages themselves, should load quite quickly, as long as everything else is optimized. I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching!

is there any way to make the accordion or tab block appear next to a paragraph block? I can not figure out how to put them next to each other. the button blocks can be placed next to paragraph text and it automatically moves over. how do I do that with the accordion or tab blocks?

Interesting content but for the life of me I simply do not understand why on earth any tutorial author thinks that having a thumbnail video of THEMSELF on the screen throughout the video is a good idea. It contributes absolutely NOTHING and is at the very least distracting and consumes a portion of the screen!!

GetWid is a plugin, just like Elementor is a plugin. This just replaces one plugin with another, except that the list of things you *can't* do with GetWid/Gutenberg vs elementor is so long its not worth enumerating.

It builds on a native framework inside Wordpress and is a far lighter application. Coming from someone who has used Thrive, Elementor, and Getwid, it is excellent. (It is also free.) The problem with page builders is that they are far too heavy of an application. From a content manager's perspective, this is an ideal option if you are limited on funds. Elementor builds far better than Getwid, though. There are a lot more templates to build on in a well-developed page builder.
