I wanted my father to come to my 2nd grade play. I was up there as a raccoon with a tail my grandma made and had a whole sentence to say.."What are we gonna do?!". Finally I saw him standing clear in the back by door after 2nd half started. He was gone by the time it was over and didn't see him when we went out to bow. Still waiting on my milk and lottery tickets all these years later.

Baseball has a place in culture as the "all American" game, so I get why it's the trope they used a lot.
@jonplays395
9 ай бұрын
Baseball is often referred to as "America's pastime." Originating in the United States in the 19th century, it quickly became a major sport and cultural phenomenon. Major League Baseball (MLB) is the sport's most prominent professional league in the U.S. Baseball has left a deep impact on American culture, inspiring countless movies, songs, and literary works. Over the years, legends like Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, and Derek Jeter have become household names. While its popularity has seen fluctuations and faces competition from other sports, baseball remains a quintessential part of the American experience. Baseball's roots in the U.S. trace back to various bat-and-ball games played in the 18th century. The game as we know it began to evolve in the 19th century. Alexander Cartwright is often credited with formalizing many of the modern game's rules in the 1840s, including the diamond-shaped infield and three-strike rule. Established in the late 19th century, MLB consists of the National League (founded in 1876) and the American League (founded in 1901). The two leagues merged in 2000 into a single organization led by the Commissioner of Baseball, though each retains its own set of rules and championships. Films like "Field of Dreams", "The Sandlot", and "Bull Durham" underscore baseball's role in American culture. Songs like "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" are iconic and have become synonymous with baseball outings. Authors like Bernard Malamud ("The Natural") and W.P. Kinsella ("Shoeless Joe") have woven baseball into the tapestry of American literature. While baseball remains popular, it faces challenges in retaining younger audiences. Efforts to modernize the game include rule changes to speed up play and efforts to improve player safety. Moreover, MLB has expanded its reach internationally, with games played in various countries and a growing number of international players in the league. The annual championship series of North America's MLB has been a staple since 1903. It pits the champions of the American League against those of the National League. The series has given rise to countless memorable moments, from dramatic home runs to incredible defensive plays. TLDR: In summary, baseball is more than just a sport in the U.S.; it's a reflection of the nation's history, culture, and values. Over the years, it has endured as a beloved pastime, adapting and evolving but always retaining its essence.

Two dollars ☠️💀💀💀 Well I mean what's changed? People still think if you get 5 minutes of quality family time a week you're straight, because the rest of the time is spent working, sleeping or doing errands All jokes aside it's pretty sad that we still have this problem The 4-day work week should be non-negotiable unless someone truly loves their job and wants to do it around the clock which in that case I say by all means bravo have at it big fella but if you want a more healthy work-life balance that should be the minimum standard accessible by everyone not just the lucky few in the top 20% of income brackets. there may be times when you put more time in at work & that's fine, but by and large a three (10 hrs/day) or 4-day workweek (8 hrs) needs to become our social standard. There's nothing magical about 5 days or for many people six, it's just been hammered into us for so long that this is the only way to live. Well guess what ITS KNOT.

I'm 35 and work a job netting 80k when I could be gone much more and make 120 and pay off my house in a handful of years.. i have 4 kids and being gone that much would defeat the purpose of having a family at all and therefore the money too.

This is TOO good. A lot of these movies featured "I finally listened to my kids and it made me a bunch of money" moments too, just to make us wonder what the characters actually learned.

Yeah I love it when they are inspired by their children to open their own business. Like that isn't one of the most time consuming and risky things you can do. Odds are you are taking your family to the poorhouse or at least spending the next 10 years with absolutely no free time as you desperately work to make it happen.
