I'm into my 50's now. I have my phone mirrored to my screen, on my Roadglide. I just use it as I did my paper map back when. I don't like the turn by turn instructions. I just take a look when I make a stop somewhere. The last time I rode up to the Smokey Mountains, I found small back roads by zooming into the map. I still get "lost," because I don't use the navigation. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks doc. There isn't a cell phone holder or any cup holder on the handle bars of any of bikes. My cellphone and water bottles are inside the tourpack. My new cellphone is too large to fit in dashboard cubicle. I had 10 foot charging cable run from the USB port to the tourpack to charge the phone while playing music over bluetooth. I agree with Doc I'm on the two wheeler to make memories and take in the sights.

That’s rich, working on a LEO’s bike with a cell phone cradle. My cell phone is used for my personal music being Bluetoothed into my infotainment system, as well as my FP3 Tuner, which gives me trouble codes, my Apple Car Play with nav, my FOBO Tire Pressure warning system, and phone which I don’t answer and can’t with my set up while riding, but know if it’s an important phone call trying to come through. I’ll pull over when it’s in a safe area to call back. Dam robo calls! It’s not just about the phone, it’s about what it compliments on the bike. I understand the importance of keeping the stock parts on any modifications made, Doc.

Could be lessor of an issue if HD provided a quality wireless connectivity package on its bikes instead of a very ordinary system. The amount of times I had connectivity dropouts with the Pan America with the Harley App or bike, I just gave up connecting to the bike. BTW, I'm not Robinson Cruso in this regard. And HD should design its connectivity systems to allow owners to use the headsets of their choice not make it so you have to use the HD propriety head-sets for proper connectivity, like you only get mono instead of stereo sound if you use non-HD head-sets - who does that?
@LowCountryHarleyDavidson
2 ай бұрын
I agree that HD could do a lot better with Software in everything. But your comment on being able to use any product. There is not enough time and money to test every unit in the market. And how does that help HD? They develop a product that uses their products because that’s serviceable. Why do people buy Apple products to go with their phones? Because they are guaranteed to work…..Doc

I'm currently getting a 1982 Tour Glide ready for the road. It has a period correct accessory stereo caddy attached to the top of the fairing but no stereo. I bought a new in the box period correct Kraco AM/FM cassette stereo. I don't play a stereo while I ride but it's fun to have.

Thanks Doc for another great tech tip. I keep my iPhone in my jacket pocket-music, radio, incoming calls, Google maps are connected to my integrated headset via Bluetooth to my crash helmet-no need for a mobile device mounting bracket-only downside is that you have to be a bit creative on the longer distances in the charging department (especially referring to older bikes with no integrated music centers installed as stock).

Doc, I agree. I'm old school but...When your trying o get out of large cities like DC, K.C., Memphis, OK. City and such where you have multiple exits and entrances you need the audible into your helmet. When your tired and going across the plains and long lonely hiways it's sometimes a good idea to be able to talk to somebody till you get to a station or someplace. You can't just pull over on an interchange and get a map. One idea is before you start out use a grease pencil and write down exit numbers and approx. miles to it. Just my experience from a few days on the road.
