Yes please, a video about all the roles within a finance team! I went from AP to Management Accounting just over a year ago and feel like I've been drowning the whole time! Im part qualified ACCA but didn't take my studies very seriously in the beginning so I don't think I have a strong accounting foundation. Thinking about what other options in finance I can take as maybe Management Accounting just doesnt mesh well with my quite introverted personality. A video on all the hard skills that will help you become a better accountant would also be awesome! Your content is very valuable so thank you! 😃

This was extremely useful, thank you. I had doubts about working in practice due to the non existent work life balance, and from what you've said industry suits my personality/lifestyle a lot more. Looking forward to more videos!

I agree with the points that you made about public practice and industry. I’m also a PwC alumni and I pivoted out to Industry. I’m now in a Financial Planning and Analysis role where I deal with Commercial Asset Management and Corporate Accounting. I never thought I’d say this, but I actually got to use my audit skills and experience in improving the internal controls of my current employer. LoL! Although my role is mainly in Finance, I’m finding my responsibilities gradually evolving as I help out Corporate Accounting and SOX (internal audit). Please continue posting videos about careers paths in Finance and Accounting in different industries.

Rumble in the jungle: Paul Harris (ACA) VS Michael Johnson (ACCA) for that once in a lifetime CFO, million pound job. Who wins? do you consider ACCA accountants (and CIMA) to be on the same level as an ACA accountant? this is of great interest to my friends in South Africa, where the ACCA is attempting to compete with the local Chartered accountant qualification, known as Chartered accountant (South Africa) CA(SA). We have noticed you always associate ACCA with industry and not practice. Mr. Harris, you have certainly added value to my life. Please continue.

Hi Sir Harris. Could you please do a video on which you detail the knowledge structure a graduate may expect between the two path? Is it possible to acquire both external audit (and/or tax) and advisory skills (corporate finance)?

Hi Paul, if I complete ICAS Scotland through MRA US CPA. WHAT are the job prospect are there enough job for ICAS Scotland comparison to ICAEW. WHERE icaew are eligible can ICAS Scotland candidate give interview in whole Uk? Are chartered accountant is eligible for TIER 2 visa in U. K?

Hi Anu, something often misconstrued until you actually start doing the CA is that ICAS, ICAEW and CAI (Ireland) are all mutually recognised. Firms are likely to have CAs from all three bodies and the content you learn is more or less the same, albeit the structure and timing of the exams are slightly different. So in short your job propects should be identical compared to ICAEW and CAI ACA. Fun fact, ICAS like to stress how they are the only chartered accountants in the UK/Ireland that can call themselves "CAs", as they were the first professional body of chartered accountants, thus ICAEW and CAI had to adopt the "ACA", "Associate" Chartered Accountant.

Thank you for sharing your experience and perspective. You have answered my question that I was going to ask, with this video. I would probably prefer Industry because my mature age (I'm age 36 turning 37 end of October 2021) as well as my previous work and career experiences. I want to be acknowledged for my reliability and accountablility in my next career (similar to when I had served in the U.S. Air Force, and I would like to be self-employed or contract in my future). But my question: since I would love to travel and/or live in different States and countries again with my next career like I did in the USAF, would Industry allow travelling? And I have left a comment providing my experiences (and how I am building my next career as a Forensic Accountant) on your video titled Qualified Accountant. Date Stamp: 27sept21
