@@PeterC245I'm sure that Australia does have the same attitude that Thailand does. You can't just waltz into Australia and decide you want to work if your only on a visa that doesn't permit work. Just as in Thailand, if you arrive in the country and get a job that you're not supposed to be doing and get caught doing the job, you'll almost certainly get deported (examples are on Border Force, or similar TV shows). Where Australia needs foreigners to fill jobs that Australians either won't do, or don't have high enough qualifications then the government looks outside the country to fill the jobs and that's the same with Thailand. Want to criticise the Australian Government? Fair enough, but do it for the right reason and have facts to back it up, isn't that right @thenakedguru

If you're on a marriage visa due to being married to a Thai, you are "work authorized" which means you can get a work permit. But, the only way to actually get a work permit when you're work authorized in Thailand is to connect that permit to a specific job which has historically meant a job provided by a company that has a legal right to operate in Thailand. So far, that has seemed to mean that a KZitemr would have to go through quite a lot of hassle and expense to set up that Thai company and, so far, I haven't seen any people report that they have gone that route. A work permit in Thailand is not analogous to a green card in the U.S. which allows you to work anywhere. In Thailand, there must be a company of record for the permit and related to one specific job.

Shame you have to set up a company to actually work in Thailand. But as you say the alternative is to be an employee for someone else who has a business. Guess I need to look into this; I have a UK business so know how to run that so I guess I would just need to learn the ins and outs of a Thai company. That car is basically a Ford Fiesta; even in Thailand it should be easy to get parts. Changing that is either the whole arm or the ball joints; sounds like the rubber is broken on the arm where it connects to the sub frame (the frame that supports the front suspension and engine). Quite easy to change; easiest just to get a new arm (and you don't need to change both sides but by the sound of it sounds like both sides have gone). Pickups are the best choice in Thailand IMHO since roads can be bad; heat, etc, and they last forever; my 2006 Triton is still going strong!

I am amazed at how much work/biz info you managed to pack into just a few minutes in this vlog. You may not know much about cars (same with me... 555), but it is pretty clear that you *do* know a lot about the practical side of working & running a business - and most importantly, keeping it legal - in Thailand. Imo, there are too many vloggers - incl. a lawyer or two - who dispense some really sketchy advice about skirting around legal stuff in Thailand, which only puts you at risk of getting deported and/or being put on a PNG no-return list. So, it is good to hear a real-life example of how it should be done.... ie. keeping everything aboveboard and 100% legal. Best of luck with all of your ventures - big & small. And, with your car! :)

Oh yes, rubber bushings on the swing arm. They get old and then broken by the bad roads. Just get them inspected once a year and replace if necessary, the whole car will run a lot smoother. Also it is always a good idea to check the ball joints once you lifted up the car. And always change them in pairs, if you do one side, do the other as well as they are the same age ... Hi Ryan The rubber part you pointed at is the CV boot. The big metal bit is the wishbone, which has rubber bushes that wear out from time to time. The bit he pointed at on the wheel side of the wishbone is the ball joint (wheel collapses upward when it breaks). The item you pointed to that holds the wheel on is called a stud and should not be loose. There are a few tests that I have done in the past due to having similar problems with the many vehicles that I have owned in the past. Also the I have had to change many suspension parts on vehicles over the years. As you are getting it sorted by a Thai garage. I would love to hear what it finally cost you. Depending on the price of the parts, of course, I would expect it to be somewhere around 3000 to 15000 baht. This is a very helpful video about the work permit as I will be looking into that when I come to Thailand in the future. Also considering the SMART S visa.

They said they had never seen a farang do hard work. There was also a Aussy that started a bar out in the sticks. The police told him as long as he did not serve Thais' they would not bother him. 0 seconds ago It's not sick to expect everyone to follow the law/rules. It's sick to try and carve out a specific demographic and promote that it's ok for them to not follow the laws/rules. This attitude is precisely why the laws/rules become more restrictive for everyone. A prime example is the retirement visa...because people were borrowing money for 90 days immigration decided to make the financial requirements far more difficult. The attitude should be don't go to Thailand unless one has the resources to abide by the law/rules and certainly don't be getting married and making children if you haven't prepared to support them within the laws/rules.

You can still get a visa based on Marriage with 400k in the bank or one based on retirement with 800k in the bank. That has not changed in decades. There's been a couple of minor tweaks, that's all. There seems to be a sizeable group of Westerners in Thailand whose sole achievement in life is obtaining a visa in Thailand without using an agent and they spend an awful lot of time complaining about anyone who doesn't do it exactly the same way they do (I'm assuming you're a member). If you love following rules and hate it when they can easily be bent or broken with no repercussions (for a price), Thailand is not the place for you. Your narrative - that rule breakers make life more difficult for you - is patently untrue. If you met the requirements for a long-term visa 20 years ago you can easily still meet them now as they have barely changed.

Whether that stands the test of law or application of the law as it stands is an unknown quantity. Does it com into play if you tag Thailand as location in a video when you are uploading content. Should it be left untagged?

There has not been a case to my knowledge of youtubers getting in trouble for working here. However i think when it comes to being a tex resident and having sponsors etc this is probably seen as working but not enforced. DTV visa may provide a solution but this is just my humble opinion

Nice video and wise move on bitcoin and Tesla. I retired in Thailand a few years ago off my crypto and tech stock investments. I no longer need to work, but had considered dong youtube more as a hobby to keep busy than to make money...I decided not to do it as it wasn't worth the possible "working illegally" classification and deportation. It's a shame and disgrace Thailand doesn't allow foreign spouses and parents of Thai kids an easy avenue to work and support their Thai family. One thing for sure and it has been true for decades is that in Thailand it's 100% all about money.

Yeah, whereas Western countries are crying out for people with no money to immigrate. That's why they keep voting for idiots like Trump. Take a look at the rules for brining a foreign wife back to the UK and tell me it's not all about money. Or, if you're still confused, compare the rules for investment visas in the UK and Thailand. Clue: you won't get one in the UK unless you are seriously wealthy.

There has been 2 changes this year. The change to the tax rule which means tax resident Singles/Couples with income of or above 120K/220K THB have to file tax returns and there are penalties if you don’t or file a false return (See - How to file your income tax in Thailand in 2024 EXPATICA). Also the new DTV visa which is aimed at Digital Nomads. You can’t get a work permit on a DTV but you can submit an employment contract or professional portfolio and apply for it as a remote worker working for foreign companies/clients. So Thailand is obviously classing this work and income as not working in Thailand and the income as foreign income. Thai sourced income is income from employment or business carried out in Thailand and is taxable in Thailand regardless of which Country it paid in. So with these restrictions on the DTV will Thailand just turn a blind eye if they become YTers++. (++ = promoting sponsors, selling merchandise, courses, consultations, show casing property etc). If not will they allow those already YTing on retirement visas, no work permits etc to continue and will they allow them to have the income from these activities which Thai sourced income paid overseas and not pay the tax to Thailand while the rest have to comply with the rules. Another thing some might not be aware is Thailand is now a CRS (Common Reporting Standard) Country. CRS Countries automatically and periodically share your financial transaction info such as bank balances, deposits and source of those deposits, investments etc (See - Thailand begins Common Reporting Standard Exchange in 2023 TAINA).

I will NOT do 180+ days in Thailand, so that I am not forced to GIFT a corrupt incompetent govt money to further waste. If I am only out of Thailand for 5 months with work, I will take my Thai wife and son out of Thailand on a holiday and spend the money on us, in a foreign country.

I am thinking about doing something similar as you are, so I appreciate learning and seeing what I can take from what you do. But not the youtube thing, I prefer to keep my life private for the most part. But I definitely want to buy some farm land for the kid and mother in order to help provide for them.
Taking my car to a garage in Thailand, always comes back with a new problem and parts missing, now i do all my own repairs lol, great video keep up the good work!! oh and heres a good tip for you, never fill the car rad water with the water from the tap, the tap water in Thailand contains caustic soda aka sodium hydroxide,, eats aluminum and creates hydrogen gas.

normaly the woble is no problem. not dangerous. But he says a wishbone is broken???? its very very rare it brakes... he mean the rubbers are worn? just change the rubbers. Did you see actually the METAL crack?????? Drivechafts gives no problem in a woble, they don't change the allignment, rubers do, the position from the wheel changes as teh hole is bigger, the wheel goes to the outside by the weigth. changing its line on the tarmac, and by each bump the bolts in the rubbers go back to the center, this is the woble you feel or hear. no danger. just change the rubbers. you can ask me anything about mechanic or construction. and a few other things. don't ask me things about iphones.

The car maintenance both mechanic’s are correct. The car itself is a light duty vehicle and I’m sure it’s not built for rural roads that could have potholes rough surfaces. The front end on that car just isn’t robust enough. When I get a hair cut I go to a professional barber when I have a toothache I go to a dentist. Going to a mechanic shop to look after your car isn’t any different. So all the backyard mechanics of the world thinking you have to do your own aren’t really being realistic. I’m always amazed that the expat community will be the first to turn on themselves for when one is doing something the others can’t or won’t do.

The comment about the spinney bit, no go. Was pretty funny. CV is under the rubber boot (the joint that allows for the change of angle, the thing that clicks when you turn in a old car) and the 2nd bit is the wishbone (lets the wheels move up and down independently unlike a old style solid axil). I don't know much about cars either, just bolt on new bits to replace the broken bits. Only fabricate small un important stuff. Even people that are a jack of all trades I'm sure have very big holes in their knowledge base. The more specialized people get those holes seem to get bigger outside their particular task. Probably rightly so if your doing big hours as a leading neurosurgeon why would you waste your time on why the tap doesn't work in your time off the plumber only charges out at 1/4 of your equivalent hourly rate. If I tried to machine a head or sleeve cylinders the piston would probably pop out the side.

My knowlege on are cars is a bit old fashioned but during my time on the planet I've learnt a couple of things. Your problem sounds like to me to ba miner problem, but maybe not. I would try getting the wheels balanced as sometimes one of the little lead weights fall off and this can cause the wheels to shake at certain speeds

Those drive shafts won’t be cheap. That play in the cv’s (constant velocity joints) is supposed to be there as they change length as the suspension travels up and down. Most likely issues will be bottom arms, the flat triangular shaped plates with a ball joint connecting to the hub. In the past you could change just the bottom ball joints but now they’re part of the bottom arms so you have to replace the whole thing. Very interesting video, can’t believe you attract so many negative people. Why do they even watch 🤔

@@thenakedguru those mechanics didn’t look confident in pinpointing the issue. They could suggest several costly fixes before they solve the issue. I’ve had tyres go out of shape in Thailand, never heard of it before but it was a fact, very strange. Could also just be a wheel/tyre out of balance which would be a cheap fix.
