In this lesson, I want to introduce the working principle or operating principle of 2-stroke gasoline engine.
The engine is called 2-stroke because the piston has to make 2 strokes to complete 1 cycle, then the crankshaft has to turn 1 revolution.
- Those 2 periods are the explosion + discharge period and the intake + compression period
+ Explosion-discharge stroke: When the piston is near the top dead center (TDC) The spark plug will ignite and ignite the air-air, the combustion air-fuel will do work to push the piston from TDC to TDC when the piston descends to TDC it will open the exhaust. First to let the combustion air out, then the sweep door is opened to mix new air from the bottom of the tank to the top of the combustion chamber, pushing the remaining burned gas to the outside. Meanwhile, the intake or intake door remains closed.
+ Intake-compression period: The piston moves from TDC to TDC when it will close the sweep door first and then close the exhaust door when the exhaust door is completely closed, the air-air is forced in the cylinder, at this time the piston tail has been closed. Open the intake to let fresh air from the Carburetor enter the engine crankcase.
- When the piston is close to TDC, the spark plug ignites the carburetor again, generating work to start the next cycle's exhaust stroke until it stops working.
