The piston moving up and down in the cylinder is called a stroke, and if it has a short crankshaft then it’s a short stroke.

Thanks! I finally created a good enough turbine that pushes enough air! I think the short stroke is better for this because the air being needed to boost is less because the piston distance is shorter. The fact that it’s not 3D printed, modified, or geared up is pretty cool. The engine is faster with a regular flywheel instead of the turbo but the fact that the turbo does work is really cool I got around 50-100 rpm increase. I will keep working on this design over spring break right now I’m trying to make the turbine lighter. maybe trying a two cylinder set up might work better.

it is showing improvement but only by 20+ rpm, my suggestion is to use a curved impeller design for more efficiency and a less constricted intake as well as better brick seals due to the design being centrifugal its flinging air to the housing and any leaks can reduce preformance.

Not rlly sure if you can call it a procharger bc there is no second stage like a procharger has but it rlly smart using the compressed air to force to piston down faster

dont know if it actually boost the speed, because it only goes like 50 rpm faster with the boost, while the air resistens from the impeller is probably slowing the engine more then what it makes

Yes of course that happens it even happens with cars the same way but you could get more power out of it but at slower speeds. Overall it doesn’t work and never will

Are you using a shop vac? i would to try hooking up the blowing end to the impeller with a closed manifold. You might need to actually make the valve thicker so you can make the boost intake bigger to accommodate

is the tapping noise piston slap? otherwise great build 🔥
@legoenginemechanic101
Жыл бұрын
The tapping noise is the valve going inward and hitting the cylinder head because there isn’t any 1x1s with holes to keep it up straight. But when the valve is on it just sucks the valve straight so it doesn’t slap

How dose that work.the turbocharger adds air but the vacuum cleaner sucks it. So how dose it make more power
@legoenginemechanic101
Жыл бұрын
The valve is on a crankshaft so when the valve is up and open it allows the vacuum to suck the piston up and then it goes down it closes off the vacuum and then allows air to be pushed into the cylinder form the turbo and push the piston down then the cycle repeats

@tannerwilson1557

@@legoenginemechanic101 Its technically the same concept as procharging since the "turbo" isn't running off of exhaust. I tried it, and with a 4x6 paddle turbine it does increase the max rpm by about 300-400rpm, the intake had to be built weird because at full throttle it would bog down and start spinning in reverse then die, But I used a technic to make the blade
@xmysef4920

@@tannerwilson1557 To be honest, it’s not really acting like a procharger as you said, it’s actually just a sequential turbine. Not a turbocharger, not a procharger, but a sequential turbine.
