Hi Hayley & Brad that was an excellent episode. I retired around 20 months ago, so I am a lot older than you, but currently waiting for a new tow vehicle and planning the big trip for next year to head over to the east, pulling the caravan across for the first time. Watching your videos really helps to what we have to look forward. Keep up the great work, you are such a down to earth couple. Cheers Peter

Thank you guys so much for this video, perfect timing. Ive got the 79 and an off rd van but have been a bit hesitant to go. I have my own gardening business on the Gold Coast and at the young age of 60 is pretty daunting leaving after not ever being out of work. The only thing I have to take into mind is my dog. But your video has given me a boot up the arse, so thank you. Im also a truck driver🙂

This is the first of your videos I’ve seen, and I’m now subscribed. So good to see people working the old fashioned way, we can’t all get by on online work. We’ve been full time on the road for 14 months now, did three months work in kalgooorlie and now parked up in port Augusta doing a 2 month house sit so I’m about to start working here too. Such an awesome way to see the country. Now to go down the rabbit hole of the rest of your videos.

Appreciate the note & agree! To be honest I think the work/travel lifestyle is much less stressful and enjoyable than trying to get by making a living on social media (having a foot in both camps) That's why I think for us its important to find a nice balance between them both 😊 Take care & thanks once again for the lovely comment 🙏

I just watched my first episode of your channel and found it very inspiring. I returned to work 14 months ago after a 6 month van trip whilst on paid long service leave. Over the past month I have been deliberating whether I could afford to semi retire and hit the road long term, hopefully gaining some work along the way. Your video has definitely given me much more confident to continue with my dream of seeing this wonderful country of ours. Safe travels.

Excellent video! Happy travels. We did 6 weeks driving machinery for an almond harvest in Feb this year. Stayed on farm with power and water provided and free diesel too. Definitely makes saving a lot easier. Not in a town to spend money either which we always find we spend too much money when we stop in large towns too 🤪 happy travels. It’s great getting the renewed excitement to hit the road again too. Totally relate.

Great to see you guys are going well and getting plenty of work. I did what you guys are doing for four years traveling around Australia, I am a chef so finding work was always pretty easy and I met many life long friends. I think the biggest difference was Caravan parks were much cheaper 10 years ago but yes you always spend way more than you think you will. I was lucky enough to go right round the country 2 and half times and finally settled in Brissy but I am ready to go travellin' again. Stay safe and most importantly have fun...

Hi Hayley & Brad! Great episode but just like to add I live in Bunbury and we never have a problem with crime and would hate to have your subaribers think it is a bad place to visit. I guarantee you get up at 3.30am in a lot of places you’ll find undesirable people around. Wait until you hit some of the NW towns people will say there’s a problem. A lot of crime is opportunistic with people leaving their stuff out or doors unlocked. Having said all that really enjoyed the summary and hope overall you enjoyed your time in Bunbury and thanks for putting the video together.

I didn’t have any experience, other than sitting in the passenger seat from a young age 😂 A lot of these company’s have driver trainers so they won’t just throw you in a truck without signing you off first. They will get you where you need to be before sending you on your own 🤙🏼

Hey Terry! Stoked to hear you enjoy vid mate 😁 most prime movers have different gearboxes to cars and utes. They have what you call a constant mesh gearbox (no synchros) so as long as the road speed matches the engine rpm, you can float through the gears without using the clutch! We are planning on picking up work on the road too, although we have a small online business my husband is very keen to learn more about truck driving, he loved your insight into the industry. Hi Beth, and thanks for watching! I’m glad you guys found some value in this video and got some insights. I had my heavy rigid license to then upgraded a few years before we left to a heavy combination license. I think the hardest part is finding an employer willing to hire you with no prior experience but in saying that there are plenty of companies out there that want people with lower class licenses, and are willing to pay for them to up skill if you can pay them back with time 😊 Hope this helps, and all the best 🙏🏼

Thanks for another great episode. I think travelling and working has sparked a lot of interest. The Kenworth you call old is substantially better than say an old Foden from the sixties with dual gearboxes, try shifting two boxes at once. You make the18 speed road ranger look easy and even fun. I did not much like the 18 speed road rangers, particularly with a single plate clutch but 600 or so hp and a decent strong clutch may make the difference. I'm not a driver by any stretch of the imagination but have had to take a D8 to the bush on a couple of occassions when I was merely a child and then driving a dual axle body truck for late evening deliveries to a nearby town. Bunbury I remember as a nice little place, we built, installed and commissioned a CIP system for the road train tankers delivering into the dairy factory at Brunswick Junction.

Hi Roberts, and thanks for checking in again! No complaints with the old KW, I loved it. The suspension seat was a nice touch, the old girl had 6rod suspension as oppose to airbags. I would love to have a crack at twin stick, seen plenty of vids online of those old trucks.. how cool 💪🏼 That’s awesome, did you live over here for a bit? Or was this out of Brisbane? Saw plenty of milk trucks out and about, must’ve been a sizeable system those road trains must be able to carry nearly 60t of milk!!

@@our.australia.trip. Born in Brisbane but grew up in far northern NSW. I spent a lot of time in the bush near the border. I have a lot of experience in WA southern region working over there for many years approximately one week each month in food and beverage engineering, travelling across from Brisbane and Sydney.

Don't want to mislead, Its still quite an expensive lifestyle. When travelling you should expect to spend around $1500/w to keep you rolling!

Great video guys, I’m lucky to retire at the end of the year but it’s still interesting to see how you young ones manage to travel and work. By the way, what’s that with Patsy?

G’day Hans, I bet you’re looking forward to retirement mate! It’s definitely not a conventional way life, but I try to make it work! Patsy is a nickname Hayley was given when she was just a youngen, I think we discuss the origin in our Nullarbor video 😊

Great video guys! Just a quick question not sure if it's already been asked, have you been able to teach in other states? How did you manage with different accreditation?
@our.australia.trip.
Жыл бұрын
Hey Cassie, there is a bit of paperwork to do, just head to the state you want to teach in dept of education website and follow along from there. Allow about a month to complete paperwork, get approvals & accreditations 😊

Let us know how your new hitch goes Brad. We also run the 4.5 McHitch auto coupler and am worried if something goes wrong with it we won't be able to sorce stock readily

Will do, and that was my concern as well. So far, no issues with the DO 35 & finding it just as easy to use as the mchitch. Will keep you updated and mention it in the Ozglide review video. 🤙🏼

Love your videos ! Did you have any experience as a truck driver before going for the job? Apart from getting your license.

Thanks Adam! I had little bit of rigid experience but no real semi trailer or road ranger experience which I think is the hardest to get 😀

Hey guys love the vids! Quick question! What type of insurance did you guys get for your aus trip?
@our.australia.trip.
Жыл бұрын
Hey & thanks for watching! The ute is with racq & we have got the top roadside assistance option with that. Caravan is with CIL. The insurance bill is pretty exxy and one of our main expenses but with the amount of time we spend on the road there is peace of mind everything is covered in pretty much any situation 👍🏼

Good vid. We live and work on the road also, (not doing the "direct marketing scam", doing real work like you guys.. We stay in an area and work and explore that area for about 3 months, then move on to another area. I am a chippy so get work everywhere, and my wife has a job she can do remotely with a laptop.. PS Mchitch is back in business

It’s a great way to travel, we enjoy stopping and working on our way round. Makes you appreciate the travels more. I suspect the people that are pushing that crap are in a much worse financial position than they lead on… Yes it’s quite funny that, repopulating once cleared farm land for growing trees is a great way to soak up some carbon!!

The biggest mistake You Tubers make is trying to make their episodes like a TV program, I like to watch anyone just as they are, It's more interesting, mistakes and all , I left my property 2008, Travelling and working , best thing I ever did, in my home built caravan, 100 series, I've met so many fellow travelers, You are right , jobs are not hard to find, Now semi retired, just doing volunteer care driving, Happy safe travels, enjoyed episode, information, Cheers Bevan from Sapphire Central Qld 🤠❤️🦘🦘🇦🇺

Great to hear from you Bevan & hope you're keeping well mate! Patsy said the same thing to me and which is what lead to the creation of this video. It's great to have another perspective sometimes. Im stoked that we now have this record of this time in our lives. The trusty 100 series, the best LC ever made? Safe travels & catch you on the road 🤠🤙
