Interesting. But these 4 channel tracks aren't that common, are they? Honestly, I've never seen any.

In the last example with drums, if I edit the kick track will the edits show up in the other tracks? Will slip edits be reflected across tracks?

No, not in the last example. These are different media items on each track, although from the same source file.

Kenny, thanks for the explanation, but I have a question on the pins where there is a Downmix setting. It's set to "None", but when would you choose the other 3 settings?

The shared ins -3db and -6db would be used in the case where your final mixed audio is "too loud". This can easily happen if they were recorded loud (and so need some attenuation) or were originally intended for separate outputs (not mixed). I put "too loud" in quotes, because there there isn't actually any clipping going on. You can just turn down the volume of the track and achieve the same thing. So, personal preference. The "user mix" is if you want to balance the channels yourself (a little mixer will appear per-input). This is arguably way more useful, as you can't do it after the fact (like the -3db and -6db settings. However, TBH if you want to do this, I would strongly recommend the other solutions (sends to different tracks, or duplicating tracks and using the media item channel mode). It is way less opaque and gives you control over it easier.

Well, it is effectively a repost of what Kenny did a year ago: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1op_yqRqomWWg4osi=Kh2MekzPbugXLYTC I'm not sure why things are getting reposted?
