This is really cool and very impressive that you put it together yourself, but what does it do that World Machine, World Creator, or Terragen doesn't? Just that it works in Blender?
@LancePhan
Жыл бұрын
World Blender is not meant to surpass World Machine or any other professional landscape creation soft wares. I made the World Blender for Blender users so that they don't need to learn new soft wares and switch back and forth between multiple soft wares. If you already have World Machine and know your way around it, then you should keep using it.

Looks great! Any idea whether I could import generated terrains into Unity and use them as levels for my game project? Preferably with textures?
@LancePhan

I have made a video about exporting the textures for UE5. I don't use Unity but I guess the process is pretty much the same.

Nice! You should try to learn to do the erode compute on GPU. 30 min is quite long tbh, especially with not disclosing what your hardware(cpu) looks like.
@LancePhan
Жыл бұрын
this is purely geometry nodes, there is no custom coding so erosion on the gpu is not possible for now. My cpu is a ryzen 7 5800X by the way

Would I be allowed to use this to make landscapes and port them to Source Filmmaker? Scenebuilding is a major issue I'm running into in my animation.

if you apply the modifier and convert the uv_map attribute to UV, you can then bake the data into textures. I'll make a tutorial about it after I finish the lake view landscape tutorial

how much resources does this use? like in RAM when rendering ?
@LancePhan
Жыл бұрын
It's quite hard to tell the RAM consumption because Blender refuses to release unused RAM until I run out. But I estimate that it will consume about 9GB of RAM for a 2K landscape. My 32Gb computer can run up to 4K landscape.

does it work to have lakes there?
@LancePhan
Жыл бұрын
For now, the water from the erosion node is not good enough to create lakes so you still need to create lakes manually. But I am experimenting a water simulator to naturally create lakes, it will be available in an update some time in the future. Also I will be releasing a landscape tutorial soon, which happen to have a lake.
