I was a chess fan when I was a kid, but then I haven't played any chess game for years and then I became so good at checkers that I started to play chess again. I mean, I understand and I like both games, but chess it's obviously harder than checkers. But that doesn't mean that in this game you don't use strategies. If you make random moves in checkers, you can easily lose the match.

There are different rules. In classical checkers, I think, you can't go backwards unless that specific piece already got to the other extreme of the board. In case of the international rules (and probably it's played like this in other countries), you can actually go backwards.
@sophiaulrich9831
5 жыл бұрын
To add, that's why in games like chess and checkers, you have to verify by which kind of rules you're playing (classical, international, other). In competitions, it seems you normally play by international rules, but you always have to check beforehand just in case.

Well, I'll try to explain. I don't know which country you live in, but in the world, different from the country you live in, there are different game rules. Countries have adopted this case of eating back to make the game more complex and more strategic. Chess can seem more complex due to each piece having its own part and playing side. But don't be fooled. In a high-level checkers game, any mistakes are crucial. See more games like this. Every play is incredible, there are players who get 3 or more and make incredible plays.

On Brazil, you can eat a piece if it is on your backs. And this "rule" is common in games like you vs your friend, not only on Championchips and etc.

Brazilian Draughts is International Draughts (the game in the video), but on 8*8 board instead of 10*10 board (so there's 12 men a side, not 20 as in International Draughts)

American checkers doesn't follow that rule. Brazilian and Russian has almost the same rule, so probably they adopted the rules in International checkers.

what are the basic strategy for checkers? moving your pieces aggressive of being defensive? should you play the checkers at the edges first or what, i have no idea.

I love playing chess, but find checkers harder to play well.

I think chess is a bit harder bc there’s different pieces and different movement and u need a bit more thinking when checkers has two pieces the little flat🤣thing and the king and the little flat thing🤣only moves diagonal and the king moves diagonal and backwards I do think chess is harder though but it is your decision😄😄😄

At 2:15 of the video, I noticed Buzhynski took out Georgiev piece by moving his piece backwards. Is that move right?

Yes, it's right. This is International Draughts. You can capture backwards with normal pieces

For people who are not that patient like me, you could play the video by 1.75x faster. It’ll be more lively lol
