From the final round at the world championships in trampoline, Quebec city, Canada. in order: Artemenko(BLR), Kabishev(BLR), Ludvigson(USA), Pan(CHN), Wang(CHN), Krylov(RUS)
The performance of the russian guy and the american was spectacular. I never thought that anyone can do that. The tumblings were amazing!

bullcrap you gotta get your mind together and be determined and stubborn and dont give up man its not to late im 17 and i started gymnastics when i was 16, i had trained freerunning for 2 years before but it doesnt matter its not too late remember, its easy to starts and its as easy to give up. real strength comes when you dont quit and keep going til you reach your goal :)

That's exactly what I said. That being a gymnast first gives you a very good base to start on. But it does not automatically make you a great tumbler. I'm sure you're a good tumbler, and i don't doubt you're benefiting greatly from your gymnastics background, but you're provincial level, that doesn't exactly mean "great". the debate was because someone said an ex-gymnast could easily be world champion in tumbling if he wanted. thanks for making my point.

I said that they use a rod floor. I train gymnast full time, I understand gymnastics equipment pretty well. I have set up two gyms from the floor up. I am not stupid; I do this for a living.

i beg to differ. If you were to take the top gymnasts in the world. I.E.: Yang Wei, Paul Hamm, Johnathan Horton, Flavius Koczi, Marian Dragulescu, Justin Spring to name a few, i bet you that would dominate power tumbling with some ease. Of course they would have to train some, but have you seen their difficulty on floor and vault and such. I think they could easily become world-class power tumblers. Im not knocking the sport though!

It's the first time that I realized that there's such a sport. It's quite interesting. What will happen if a world-class gymnist switch to tumbling? Will he/she claim the title with ease after some short term training?
@kecarstensen

I could believe that! They are using a rod floor for more ease of tumbling.

@onetrupairing - im no expert BUT I think power tumbling is done on rod floors.......if you look at the floor you can see the amount of spring is more than a gymnastics floor area!

I dont doubt that they would be good, they might even indeed dominate. But it's not for sure, and I don't think that they have an advantage over the world's top tumblers who've been training in tumbling for years. Yeah they would probably not have to train that much to be already at a world level, but they dont have super powers, and wouldn't necessarily surpass the guys that have been training in tumbling for 15+ years.

Artistic gymnast do not have enough length on the floor to tumble out of a double, so there would be no point in training them to tumble out of a double. (Just to let you know I train competitive gymnast)

hahaha are you kidding?? what makes you think that gymnasts are so much better then tumblers? ive never seen a gymnast tumble out of a double. yes the sports are related but no a gymnast would not automatically be a great tumbler.
@garyj79

All this talk of comparing tumblers with gymnasts is futile - gymnasts do NOT compete on this type of surface! hence no one seeing them tumble out of a double back - anyone think this would be possible on tumbling mats of the 1960'??? no dont think so.....
