Mozart had already written several symphonies before he was eleven. On the grand tour he took with his sister and parents he wrote about 40 compositions including sonatas for keyboard, cello, violin; part-songs; symphonies and other music.

Actually, the piano being used is Mozart's own personal piano. You can tell, one being that it's a Viennese Fortepiano and two, you can tell by the design of the music stand on the piano. If you google 'Mozart's own piano' you will be able to tell that the over all design of the piano and music stand will be same. Which leads me to my last point. Being that this piece is being played on Mozart's own piano, the piece being played is most likely to be one of Mozart's own works (not fake) the Mozart foundation in salzburg would not let someone perform a 'possible' mozart work on his own piano without being 100% sure it was a composition of Mozart. So for all you who are saying it's not Mozart's work or it's a Steinway piano, you are wrong. Lol bye

The piece was catalogued in the NMA as a 'work of doubtful authenticity' - even though according to a report by CBS it was found in the young Mozart's handwriting. Strange.

@Kas Trull Your speculation is *not* something far-fetched at all, and I have a sneaking suspicion that people who were in charge felt the same way. I think until time travel is invented, we may never know for sure. With something this old, it's a textbook case of the blind leading the blind. Heck, musicologists still argue about who wrote that god-forsaken four wind concertante.

I see one problem with this though, historically informed-wise. I might be wrong on this but for all I know Mozart wasn’t fully into fortepiano playing at that point in his life. As Badura-Skoda’s book suggests, it happened some years later as he was introduced to some of the newer modifications and was very impressed with them. This is not to say, of course, that this particular piece cannot be played on fortepiano. However, I would really love to listen to it performed on a harpsichord. Especially since it seems to have been written under an influence of some older classical composers such as Johann Christian Bach.

This is a wonderful piece! Yes, it may not be as good as some of Mozart's other pieces, but it's still a beautiful piece of music in my opinion. It amuses me when people criticize the works of a genius like Mozart, it's as if they believe they have ground to stand on when doing so.

Knowing the provenance of the person who declared it to be by Mozart: the same source that discovered the true author of the "Leopold Mozart" Toy Symphony, we can probably rest assured that it is a likely early Mozart work. It certainly appears to me to be impressive enough to warrant that accolade! Very taught and, for a minor piece, well developed...with that stroke of budding genius in the mischievous opening "slide". J. C. Bach, for example, would not have startled his audiences in this way, I feel!.

At the actual Bieber's age, Mozart had already quite a few masterpieces in his repertoire and I am talking real music! I'm not the biggest fan of Mozart (I better like big massive orchestras playing Mahler or Bruckner), but this is absolute genius still! Fantastic interpretation!

The playing is so mechanical that the lyrical and whimsical properties of the rhetorick are completely sunken. That said, I enjoyed hearing it sound on Mozart's piano, even if the performance practice has little to do with it's composer.

it goes BBB D C A then AAA C B G with that nice little music box waltz , it sounds like a Vienna Waltz. you can add after that da da da Yadadah, de de de Yehedeh, then plays B A G G F# and A G E and land on D. That is a recognizable melody that is going on in there.

I am almost certain the melody comes in with a known waltz tune, such as a music box would have, then breaks off into a dragged out lagging end ,with no crescendo into the main theme to repeat and put an emphasis so it might close the way it opened with a reminder of the interesting little melody tid bit it had. That melody had that oompapah and a yatatah, retort, but it disappears into whatever can be called an ending that is not connected to that first interesting feel of a melody.

You may be right, but the emergent tune is lost to a rolling over ending that repeats like the silent movies, never having the nice little melody , almost avoiding it, and I can close my eyes and imagine Charlie Chaplin the the Keystone Cops, trying to save the young maiden tied to the railroad tracks, the music restarts with what would be scenes that change in the movie, going back and forth, with no opening Theme really placed to the end of the score, it means nothing at the end.

reminds me that Eric Carmen used a little touch of Beethovens Moonlight Sonata in his Rock Ballad, " All by myself" That genre of rock used allot of touch ups from Classical Music, maybe we cannot sort it out. But I heard this upper octave play of BBB DCA, & AAA CBG, waltzing out to da da da Yadadah, and de de de Yehedeh, then it goes BAGGF# and ends up AGE,E, D. I can almost name that tune, I need some wooden shoes and a Holland Wind Mill for a backdrop.

It certainly sounds like Mozart to me and the fact that some of the melodies sound familiar to you means nothing. We have all become so familiar with Mozart's music that some of it has become almost folkmusic and some has influenced pop music. If there is a similarity with anything from a Queen album or film music that is not so surprising. Some well-known music used for TV has borrowed heavily from Mozart.

You can imagine Charlie Chaplin or anything else! I wonder what you know or understand of Mozart's music? You forget that this is ascribed to young Mozart and it sounds similar to some of his early music under the influence of J.C.Bach. The crucial question would be whether the manuscript in which it was found is genuine. If it is, then the music is hardly likely to be a fake as you suggest.

It reminds me when Elvis sang "Santa Lucia" and then they came out with "It's Now or Never" this music has opening measures of a real song, but it drifts out into nonsense. Whether the source is Italian Folk songs or Vienna Waltzes , it has that flavor. And allot of it sounds like Queen or Styx music, posted over piano music used in silent movies. "Along Came Jones"
