It's actually insane that people get mad at the fact that the format was "stolen" from Summoning Salt. It's like they don't realise how many things just wouldn't exist if you weren't allowed to draw inspiration from something. Summoning Salt would have likely never made a video covering TTYD in the future, and it's so nice to have this video made by someone who is so respected within the TTYD community.

Amazing video, I'm fan of these WR history videos. I'm very impressed how much TTYD has changed in almost 10 years. Just to think this game used to be 7 hour speedrun is now over half shorter. All theoretical skips that were discussed are real now. And there's no way to know what new could be possibly found next.

I remember I was watching someone running the game and then suddenly everyone started going nuts telling streamer that palace skip was found, even though I didn't know much about ttyd speed running at the time, just from the reaction, I knew it was big.

There are some crazy speedruns that go 8-9 hours even now: the PS1 Final Fantasy games. FF9 even has a super complex menu like 8 hours in that you have to get right to be properly equipped for the final stretch. kzitem.info/news/bejne/lWyPs2FtoGRpY2U

holy shit almo has got massive dedication to constantly practice and speedrun what started out as an over 6 hour speedrun for days on end. I can't even imagine myself grinding a speedrun game of over 2 hours

At the time of the video: Any% JP WR was 2:48:23. As of 6 July 2019: Any% JP 2:47:20. At the time of the video: Any% US/PAL WR was 3:01:48. As of 6 July 2019: Any% 2:44:20. This means that the US/PAL record is faster than the JP record by 3 minutes.

Huh, awesome to know that the US PMTTYD time has improved _immensely_ over time. So much so that it's only like ~20mins slower than the JP PMTTYD. Which is both insane and awesome, especially since I don't have to shell out for a JP PMTTYD if I wanted to speedrun PMTTYD someday. Awesome work, bud!

Even though this is about TTYD, the music you used makes me want to replay Super again. Also I find it interesting that such game breaking and complex glitches were found years ago yet smaller things such as the debug mode was only found earlier this year.

Awesome video! I started following TTYD speedruns a bit after the skip was discovered in the Great Tree (What ticking?), and so I remember these newer tricks like UHE and Palace Skip being such huge deals! It was kind of awesome to see this game that seemed so impenetrable become more and more broken as time went on. I notice the video description doesn't have the links to the videos you had mentioned thus far. I'm sure they're being added at a point soon, but may I also make a request? Could you also link to the post made by Miles mentioned at 4:50? It would be kind of cool to look back at what was considered a decent speed route for the game at such an early stage.

I've been watching this video over and over again for months! I've always wanted to try and speedrun TTYD, it's been one of my favourite games ever since I was younger but I don't like sitting for several hours for a speedrun. One hour is the best I can do, anyway that's me done with my rambling!
