Aside from equalizing your narration audio to have less bass and mixing the music to a lower volume than your voice, your video is nicely edited and the script is well written though I would use not use shorthand such as PB = Personal Best. Good video. *subscribed*

Fun video! Some aspects were really good, like the pacing and how the splicing thing was handled. If you make more videos I have a couple tips to make them better! -Try to find alternatives for repeated words: There were some sections where you would repeat the same word over and over again ("Matte", for example) which kinda took away from the script. Try mixing in improper pronouns if you know them, or use other descriptors like "the finn" or even just "the runner". You can also remove some of them entirely, with an example phrase (not one you said) being "Matte implemented tons of new strats into this run" turning into "Tons of new strats were implemented into this run". -Read through the lines a few more times: A couple times during the video it sounded like you were rushing to the end of a line, or breathed in an awkward spot, or paused a little bit longer than natural. Your vocal delivery will improve overtime, but these issues can really snowball if you're not careful. -Decide when you want the runs to speak for themselves, vs when you want to speak for them. Letting us see bits and pieces of a run is very good, but sometimes it'll seem like you're leading up to some form of runner reaction just to tell us the final time before they finish anyways. It's fine to let the run play out, and the pauses did help with pacing, but you can use the end of a run as this kind of pacebreaker just as well as footage of the runner playing. Overall I liked this video and hope you make more. Please don't take this criticism the wrong way, it all comes from a place of good intent and I hope it came across as such. Good luck!

@@shredberg This was great critique and I agree with it. For examples of some great ways to represent the clips, I personally think Karl Jobst is the best out there. I hope you'll make a follow-up on the other categories as this was very interesting to watch.

@JPK314

I remember Vorpal was really frustrated with the 17:43 because it tied Zukoza's best time before his runs were removed from the leaderboard. Zukoza spliced one of his runs (a 17:41 iirc) due to mental pressure to perform (he was considered the best runner at the time) and got banned for doing so. Vorpal was one of the most angry about this iirc. Zukoza felt terrible and wanted to get away from the game and deleted his twitch channel, but eventually came back (once he was unbanned) under the name Zaxsts. He would then stream runs infrequently on his twitch for a few years but never got back into it like he once was

1:28 I like this approach. A lot of people say 'any% should always be the fastest way to beat the game, no exceptions' like in the case of oot, and while that is correct logic, it creates inconsistencies in the record history that are resolved by grandfathering the any% name to whatever category becomes popular.
@sagichdirdochnicht4653
3 жыл бұрын
Well this category isn't any%, but any% no major glitches. Wich basically says no Glitches that absolutely break the game, but other then that, do whatever you want. Any% (without additions to the name) should allways be reserved for the absolute fastest way. For Example: Ocarina of Time. Several Categories. After ACE was discovered, this became Any%, since it is the fastest way. But of course, categories split, now there is a defeat Ganon Category, for the old route with wrong warping. And when Wrong Warping was discovered, the old Any% became the no wrong warp category. And so on.... However: All of those Categories do heavily rely on glitches and exploits. And all of them were Any%, until a new, faster (gamebreaking) way was found.
@GuanlongX
10 ай бұрын
@@sagichdirdochnicht4653 i'm gonna be honest i agree any% means you complete any percent of the game, no matter how it's done as long as the game data/code isn't modified in any way the only exception i would make would be for hardware differences, like, say, better computers being able to make load times shorter than less powerful computers, but that's outside the gameplay any% NMG is almost always a good solution to keeping the "original" speedrun alive while still giving the fastest strats the credit they're due, and you can make subcategories for either Any% or NMG if needed the first thing that comes to mind that's slightly annoying is elden ring, as this was the first leaderboard i encountered with an "Any%" category (which isn't actually Any%) and an Any% Unrestricted category (which is the actual Any%) TL;DR "ANY% IS ANY%" insert mr incredible pounding finger on table

I love the details and the explanation If you were to do anything like this in the future I would recommend emphasising key ideas throughout such as at 2:50 When the technique is explained, I'd say you keep the tone you were at but when you go on to explain the cycle system/how it is measured change your tone or the music slightly, in order to add a feel of freshness to it as viewers would be learning something and this would engage them more with the learning aspect Explaining the key ideas and terms throughout the video is very smart as it keeps the viewer interested as they are experiencing new things more often, again keeping them engaged You did a great job and I'd love to see another one of these :)
