I loved my 41, but no amount of money (mags, polishing, etc.) could cure it's feed problems. It would only feed one ammo reliably - Federal Promo bulk - which wasn't very accurate. I sold it, switched to Model 17, Colt Officer's Model Match, and Hi Standard Victor. Still loved it, though. I ordered a Colt Python.22 when they were catalogued, but they never produced it. Shame.

Jared - crazy to start seeing your videos pop up on my feed and see the guns we used to use on the line listed as historic😂. Knew Erich Buljung very well and he was my coach at the USOTC in C. springs for several years. I never competed against him as he had retired from the USAMU by that time, but he is a really great guy. I used to compete against Ragnar Skanaker at World Cups and such - and to see those two together was always a hoot. I caught your deep dive of the Styer a few days ago - I had an LP-1 which when it came out was a real game changer. The Morini’s were just coming out at that time and I ended up with a sponsor gun from them after I visited them at their factory in Lugano, Switzerland. I could never get it to feel as good with the grips as my Styer did so I just stuck with the CO2 and mechanical trigger. Looks like everything has gone to electronic triggers and compressed air these days. Now of course that you are talking about Forgotten Weapons…you will need to grow your hair long, and a gotee to fit the part. Great content, keep it up!👍
@localguy8

Yes they are going in the compressed air direction , the sad thing to start the hobby will drag you into selling your car for the shooting pellet habit , granted after having rhinitis ‘starter kit’ then it gets easier on the wallet by melting your own led for pellets.

Even HighStandard was into these Olympic style of pistols. I had the Supermatic Military that had the straddling rear sight platform fastened to the frame of the firearm. In it’s form from the factory it’s a relatively accurate pistol for target shooting. The platform also had a .22 short modification which included magazines for .22 short rounds as well as a lighter recoil spring. Barrels are removable so one could change out the barrels as needed. We were involved in Bullseye shooting in the 70’s. It was lots of serious fun in the day!

@@Subgunman High Standard of Montana made a new barrel for my Hamden made Supermatic Citation. They make new guns as well as parts. @Subgunman

@@todglenn2707 sounds good! My Supermatic that I bought some 19 yeas ago, used from a show has the rear sight boogered. I need to find parts for the early series. The previous owner had stripped the old sights off and had drilled and tapped the left side of the saddle to fasten a Williams Peep Sight, NOT to my liking. I can repair the holes but I need to see if the factory can provide me with the parts or it’s off to Numrich Arms to see if they have the parts. Let’s hope! As for the barrel it’s in fair shape as a decent shooter but no longer match quality. I think the Texas company acquired the old HS company, when I call Numrich they might be able to refresh my mind as to which is the original. Anyways I could go for a new match grade barrel for some serious target work.

Amazingly body of knowledge coming from a young man. Any idea how a person could get started in Olympic style shooting or North American bullseye shooting in the west coast area. I’ve been around guns for most of my adult life but nothing serious mostly informal plinking from GP 100 to Sig 226 or Glocks. Now that I am retired thinking of picking a sport or hobby to kill time. Practical shooting never interests me. Besides at my age with a bad hip, running and chasing after silhouette cutouts will be a challenge. Traditional bullseye shooting involves not just physical but mental aspects as well. Sort of like those Japanese Zen archers that shoot this long bow without sight and some masters can do it with eyes closed.
