What is it about Coldplay's songs that make people want to belt their hearts out to them in a crowd of 80,000 strong at Glastonbury??
I think it's fair to say it's probably not the depth of the lyrics ('It was all Yellow...'?) and in a song like the Scientist it can't be the chord progression -it's pretty much just 4 chords that loop...!
It's my theory that it's actually a modern day feeling that has become extrinsically linked with the particular chord inversion pattern - originated by the great and ever influential Philip Glass!
That's my theory and I'm sticking to it! But what do you think!? Any other ideas? I'd love to hear.
If you'd like to support me and my work I'd be very grateful if you considered supporting me via my patreon site via the link in my bio! :)
