I guess they all run on , or over waste . Even recyclables . But the company to get an engine to be powered by recycle waste , well that would be a world breakthrough ! Common Clatterpillar they run power plants on pig poo gas so take it the next step.

When I started working at Fresh Kills Landfill in 1985. They had only Rex non air conditioned Compactors. I still remember getting into a machine that was totally covered in flies on the inside. Soon as you started the machine. All the flies would take to the air, then try to land on your face. To mitigate this. You would point the two air fans inside of the cab. Such that at full speed and pointed on your face. The flies would immediately get caught in the airstream and wouldn't be able to land. Fortunately, I didn't have to put up with tis for long. The City bought one of every make of Compactor to determine which one was the best. Company representatives trained a small group of us. To put the machines through their paces. The men liked the big Rex. It was huge, super roomy inside. The seat was like a Lazy Boy with toggle switches for forward and reverse and joysticks to control the steering and blade. However, the mechanics get a say, too. They picked the Caterpillar machine because most of our other machines were Caterpillar. (Bulldozers, scrapers, Backhoes, off highway trucks, etc.) So they went with Caterpillar. But they kept the two Rex Compactors that the City already purchased. All the rest of the machines were sold at auction. IMHO, the Caterpillar is the best when serviceability is taken into account. Cats are tough and are the easiest to repair.

Only machine I would consider is Caterpillar...Best parts and service in the industry...no one else comes even close...When it breaks down it will be running again quicker than the rest will.

The Trashmaster used to be the Rex trashmaster. CMI is owned by TEREX. Someone stated that this is a bad way of getting rid of trash. One of the big garbage hauling companies tried crushing trash into pellets to burn. Also a garbage burning powerplant was in use in N.J. , only problem was the plant could not op- erate with the amt. of trash supplied profitably. On paper a good idea, but the reality was not en- ough fuel to burn.

Well, it's like the front wheels covers middle area and the rear wheels covers the remaining... So its full width compactor.

You mentioned that the trash master 11 is the ONLY full width compactor on the market.... That is false, the TANA is also a full width compactor & if not the best designed considering there is 2 full length drums instead of 1 on the trash master.
