94th Infantry Division Historical Society Battlefield Tour 2017 | Chapter 1: Arriving in the Triangle
In this first chapter of this short series about the 94th Infantry Division Historical Society Battlefield Tour 2017, historian and author Wim Schelberg explores the German defenses near Orscholz. Arriving a day before the official Tour Group, he ventures into the woods and discovers the former trenches and hidden personnel bunkers of what was a major German defensive complex back in 1945.
In this video, you will accompany Wim on one of his battlefield explorations, mapping German defenses, trenches, and destroyed German positions and bunkers, deep in the woods, using GPS equipment. Combining his field research with World War 2 maps, helps in understanding much of the tactical situation during the heavy winter fighting in January 1945.
