Hi nick, I’m restoring an m40 stahlhelm and I bought spray paint from day 1944. In your latest video I asked you if I needed to use primer and told me not to use it, which is what I thought too. I did a test spraying a bit on the inside but, even when completely dry, I could really easily scratch the paint completely off with my nails. What should I do? Is it maybe cause I did just 1 pass in the test and the paint is going to stay if I do a couple more passes or should I use a primer?
@History-Secrets
Жыл бұрын
I do have to admit that the paint from DDAY1944 comes off really easily.. Be sure that the steel is clean, and let it dry for a while, then paint it again, so you have different layers. If that doesn't work, try to use different paint as a primer, then use a bit of sand paper, and try again!

Years ago I bought a K98 action as I couldn't afford the whole rifle all at once. Over time I got a barrel installed on it. Later I picked up a stock, sling and bayonet. You can pick up very solid reproductions (Airsoft ones for example) with real wood stock and all metal parts. They also fit the original Zeiss scope but there is also good repros for that too. The best thing about these is, that they don't cost nearly as much as a real K98k's and you don't need any paperwork.
