I was there in Munich last week as well it was a very illuminating experience to say the least. It flipped my understanding of music reproduction and opened my eyes on the current state of the art. Many bad system, few great ones, and one music-making system worthy of owning. Remarkably, I found money did not correlate to sound quality either.
@VeggieManUK

Money has never correlated to sound quality, let idiots spend 10k+ on bad sounding systems while the rest of us can keep it below 5k, hell even sub 1k systems can and do sound better then most of the pretentious bs at the show. Granted, some of it looks cool, but give me cuboid looking gear and ill be more than happy.

@@VeggieManUK Keep going low! What about 20 bucks? Sounds like you'd be happy with radio shack system, if they were still in business. 🤣Seriously though, good sht costs money. I have about $10k in best of the best drivers and horns. It makes a big difference. $2K in digital source and such. Also, I have a low power amp that cost $30 in components to make and that's all I need. Basically, I spend the money where it's needed to achieve the sound. I measure the quality with my ears not by how much aluminum or gold was used to build the case.😒

"another big step forward..." ended in 90-s. Since then no new transistors, capacitors, transformers, as well as schematics were invented (except a huge step forward in xxFETs d-class, and digital amps). When a man in a rented suit tells about a "big step forward" I hope I won't be so st..d to trust him when money won't fit into my pocket. All these hi-end shows are about a designers competition, not engineers really. When some amplifier with 1% of THD is sold for 100k because it sounds unique at 27C deg, I award myself with a beer. "Analog pre-amplifier ... uses Japan op amps" (and I'm sure it costs few thousands) excaaaaactly! Yes, because the op amps are made in Japan, this piece of art (I mean it) costs few thousands, and for some reason is called "an analog pre-amp". We've already seen 50c op amps (from Japan!) in PS Audio 4-figures products. So, yet another beer.

@@PursuitPerfectSystem Sir, 1 Ohm is a mater of a current a driver can provide for a MOSFETs, a number of MOSFETs, a capacitance of a buffer (1F is not a big deal even for A/B amplifier), and a proper negative feedback (so, distortions are still controlled with such heavy output). I have number of schematics that work from 0.5Ohm (of course how do they sound is another question). I'm just excited how effectively a pathetic design can add zeroes to a price =)

I am just gonna come out and say it do ultra high-end audio manufacturers think everybody is a magpie you know the black-and-white bird that loves shiny things because I get the very big impression a lot of this equipment is built with pretty much off the shelf components and put into a lovely aluminium shiny block with some LEDs. I’m not knocking it to the point where it doesn’t sound good just I would love someone to say honestly on screen we have chosen this design because it looks really cool and we can charge a lot of money for it because there’s a lot of engineering gone into the aluminium casting exam states that speakers disappear. You have a line based down to 25 Hz we have a large Cross at the point on the second item reviewed the lovely big tall red speaker that tapered off towards the top did you see the nervous look the salesperson gave when asked the question it’s stealthy was one of the replies. What the hell is that? Got to do with perfect sound reproduction or even quality for God sake I am 99.9% sure that a lot of these companies are just reinventing the wheel and charging a very large price for doing so, I’m very sorry this comment upset with you or triggers of few people and please don’t misunderstand me. I am not saying this equipment shown. This video doesn’t sound good. That’s not what I mean. What I mean is some of the ball and sales pitch they come out with the justify the cost the silly designs and the massive amount of aluminium they use just to make it look like a piece of art, rather than just a pre-amplifier

You don't need a 1000watt amp for good sound. What's important is the specs , say what sensitivity is, how low is the THD . Most people don't use over 150watts . Unless you are holding a concert you don't need lots of power, good sound is how the music transfered . Not how loud it is. Buy an old adcom system and some good klipsch or something along that line and you'll have just as good sound as any.

Really cool stuff but it's all rich people products. I would like to see more of these distributors putting this kind of R&D into over-ear headphones. That type of audiophilia seems to have been lost, and it was tragic to find the man who used to work for Sennheiser, since as we all know, they gave up the business. Zoomers are unfortunately seeming to be killing off over-ear phones for inner ears. Everything is mobile-based now for ease of use. I'd love to see people putting this kind of craftsmanship into an over-ear tweeter for instance, easy listening but with drive, as you said. I know it's not canjam but seeing all this money stuffed into the last bits of a shriveling market, such as turntables, or amps, I guess they really are a similar crowd. But we can't get any of this money put into headphones for smaller living spaces, headphone amps/DACs. Total-fi is neat but it's depressing when you consider most of these products were made for an old baron living in his castle in Germany, alone. This is kind of why the audiophile hobby is dying, it's made for a fading breed. If you won't design for the future generations, you won't have future customers (besides nouveau riche). The most interesting piece was the I50 I guess, but it's around 5 grand. Still looks neat though. When real estate is so expensive, I'm surprised audiophile designers aren't considering the future.
