They’re slowly making a comeback , sp choppers are too expensive for many now and most second hand ones are worn out and have issues, many have high horsepower tractors underused so it makes sense

Nice video. Days of self propelled harvester will come to end. Trailed is always most efficient as can use tractor afterwards whereas self propelled parked up for like 45 weeks of year doing nothing !

@@AgriVidsProductions Definitely not, I had a friend who lost an arm in a round baler. I look at a lot of you tube farmers, and I cringe when I see the guards missing, particularly on static machinery. Grain augers in the US are the main problem.

@@astonmcleod5344 the most cringe worthy thing I notice on you tube is mostly Americans who insist on removing grinder guards although probably not take an arm of. Other thing is people using grinders cutting with the wheel turning away from you so forcing grinder towards yourself. Pto shaft are among the worst though.

@@astonmcleod5344 to be fair, on something like a forage harvester, a person shouldn’t be any where near around it while it’s running, so really no guard necessary. Something like a grain grinder is obviously a different story

@@francisherbison8946 I agree, that is a rapid risk assessment, one to bear in mind when sharpening the knives on a forager you are around the machine. I help out on a neighbours farm feeding lambs with a Keenan, the pto guard is stuffed. Like you I keep well away.

Better job than having 300k tied up in a self propelled for 2 months work. At least you can take this off the tractor.

When subsidies stop altogether these will be back on the scene everywhere I think. Farmers have alot bigger tractors nowadays already pulling slurry tankers and multiple mowers etc. For a big farm a big trailed harvester ready and waiting would be handy. Farmers will need to save on bills everywhere. We pay more for water than milk and it disgusts me. Something is not right there!!!

In my part of DK (Lolland) i have only seen a few selfpropelled Claas because most farms got pigs, grain and sugarbeets. I think there are more trailed choppers in Jutland, where the most dairyfarms are. I would love to see one in action. Lovely video by the way👌
