I volunteer for a horse rescue and Worm Egg Counts are the first thing they do for any new arrivals at the rescue and it is unbelievable how high the worm burdens can be.

Just found your channel through the sheep game channel. Just one question. Is there any point worming ewes that were housed before they go to grass after lambing?.
@farmvetfilms

Thanks for coming! Depends how long the were housed for relative to lambing; as far as I’m aware the periparturient rise (PPR) can persist for up to 8 weeks post-lambing but it will not always be the case - no reason you couldn’t get WECs done just before turnout and dose accordingly!

So what breed were the sheep 🐑?

Mostly Hampshire over blackie ewes. Few Sufftex cross lambs in there as well.

I was hoping you were going to demonstrate how to prepare the sample and show the microscope shots. Enjoy your dinner, but I hope it isn’t brown jelly beans for afters.

None of our clients have their own microscope Wendy - but good idea for young vets or vet students! I’ll add it to the list...
