Thank you very much for this information. My little pigeon has been so skinny despite being fed and she often seems down like she is sick and it just recently occurred to me that probably has worms. I saw what looked like a thin noodle in her droppings and being uneducated about this matter, I overlooked my belief that she had worms. Hoping to get some treatment now so that she can get better.

Thank you again Adam. Your years of education and experience are making my loft very healthy. I use Ivermectin, most compounding pharmacies have it in Canada. I also use diatomatious earth and dietary clays on food, lightly and intermittantly. I find it makes them thirsty. Gotta keep the fluids up before and after use of any 9f this gut stuff. Cheers..time to fly.

Important to note that any place that has housed an animal with roundworms needs to be cleaned with heat in addition to cleaners. Certain parasitic eggs won't be killed with cleaners, and I have read about roundworm eggs only being killed by heat. Just want to give everyone a heads up that is new to this and the cleaning.

Hi Adam! Great video! I have a question though, I'm just curious if pigeons can also get heartworms?

Thanks so much for this. Could you say some more about the "feather-producing issues" related to some of these meds? Levamisole can be the only option available to some people. If you have a link to a related (scientific or non-scientific) article, that might do. TIA.

I don't have any problem hearing and understand, although he's a soft speaker but all pronunciations of Greek terminologies are flawless. In fact I like how he does not rush though the sentences and the topics 👌

Hi Adam, thank you for the video it was very informative. Is there any treatment for worms which involve the use of household items such as garlic or apple cider vinegar? I have a pigeon which I suspect has worms, I have ordered medication online but until it arrives I want to begin treatment. I’ve been giving the pigeon 4 in 1 tablets and amoxicillin but it hasn’t shown any signs of improvement.

I'm not aware of many effective "natural" worm treatments. Antibiotics like amoxicillin are not effective against worms. Your bird should be ok until treatment arrives, unless it is absolutely filled with worms an infection doesn't kill them quickly.

@@alis7528 you can try FOOD GRADE diatomaceous earth, this is what pigeons eat naturally to deworm. It's very cheap, and can be used as a natural insecticide and in their dust bath. It has to be food grade, lesser quality is too abrasive and dangerous for the respiratory system. Some people say it doesn't work because it needs a dry environment but I find it does work. I never use ACV, its caustic and an appetite suppressant. Garlic can also be toxic and the birds don't like the taste and drink less. Makes more problems than it solves. Also if you suspect worms it is not enough. Chemical dewormers are dangerous especially in combination with other drugs. You should not be using a 4in1 for 1 problem or combination with other drugs. You will get permanent organ failure. Check the pigeontesting centre, they will test canker, cocci, worms and yeast all for £10. Or you can buy a cheap microscope and do it yourself. They have a tiny system, it cannot cope with someone's guessing. When you have animals you have to take responsibility.
