I just bought mine yesterday. Yes it is a fairly chunky watch but on my 7.5 inch wrist looks absolutely perfect. Got tired of overthinking it and just took the plunge. It’s a lot of money for me but this has been my grail watch and I’m very unlikely to buy anything more expensive than this, unless I win the lottery of course!! Fantastic review which just reinforces that I made the right decision.

As a Dive/Tool Watch Enthusiast and a Tudor 79220 owner, I ALWAYS enjoy viewing HBB reviews! I am very happy that I chose the HBB-Blue against my normal choice (black). This review was super thorough and I happily enjoyed the details, "Thank You!" to Wornandwound! to see Tudor gaining more exposure and popularity is a great thing. I like Tudor's ties to Rolex, and I especially love the aesthetic, comfort, and timeless design of the HBB. Although the HBB-Black may be the more popular model, I am extremely pleased with my choice of the Blue. I sprung for the steel bracelet upon initial purchase and then purchased the HBB-Black leather band and hardware afterwards. I chose the Black distressed strap over the Blue because I wanted a contrast and between the blue bezel and black strap. I also feel that the black strap matches the black dial even better! As far as bracelet comfort: 1st place: the HBB NATO 2nd: HBB Leather (after minor break-in) and 3rd: HBB steel bracelet. The ETA 2824 movement, has less power reserve and does not receive the same praise as the newer COSC Certified Tudor In-house movement. It has been keeping time well for me for the past (almost) 2 years of daily wear. My Tudor AD informed me that the 2824 movement within my 79220 has been modified by Tudor and I am more than content with the accuracy! It took some getting used to the snowflake-shaped hour hand, but I have grown to love and appreciate it more each day. I really like the vision, purpose and history of Tudor watches! I thoroughly enjoy putting my 79220 through its daily paces as a tool watch. It's been swimming in the ocean, pools, used as timer for various tasks, worn while working on different mechanical (automotive and motorcycle) projects, dropped, banged, brushed, and smacked on various hard surfaces, and still looks super sexy! I am happy that Tudor is gaining more momentum within the wristwatch community. Even though the mechanical improvements and aesthetically modified changes have been made for the newer HBB models, I love my "smile" text, prefer the dial's Tudor Rose over the Shield, and prefer my steel bracelet sans rivets, and the smaller case depth size. I was hoping that WAW would've covered the leather or steel bracelets' ceramic ball (clasp tensioners?) and the Tudor shield-shaped clasp hardware for the leather strap, along with the scalloped metal. My 79220 is my 1st True entry-level watch and in all honesty, I grow more fascinated by my watch everyday that passes! Having served in the Marine Corps, I am also pleased with the fact that Tudor has military heritage; true added bonus! If you are considering a HBB as a future purchase, you would NOT be disappointed!

@@mrjamesgrimes the reason they use a rose is because the rose is the symbol of the House of Tudor (British Royal family). Wanted to love this but have had issues since I got mine. Quality control issues I was VERY surprised with: uneven lume plots. Tiny but irregular. Clasp issue. Now the primer/black lacquer inside the crown logo is peeling off ! Very disappointed to say the least. It went back and they did a great job replacing dial and sorting bracelet but I’m amazed it made it past Quality Control with Tudor’s reputation.

I personally don't understand people's obsession with in house movements. sure it's cool but what can this watch do that the original can't? last a bit longer while off the wrist? what else? it certainly is more reliable than the work house eta (top grade at that) plus it's cheaper to repair at service; a true tool watch.

The dial of this looks a lot like the reference 6538 Rolex worn by Connery in the first few Bond movies. Perhaps a lot closer in appearance than the modern Rolex Sub. And much better to get one of these than a dodgy homage watch from Steinhart et al. So tempting to get one of these, throw it on a vintage Bond regimental Nato (i.e. black, red and olive) and just have a bit of fun.

By now the 58 speaks to your wish and everyone it seems wish for a more true to vintage sizing of the watch. But to look at it another way, this was a great giving of a retro styled watch in a modern size. Lets say medium modern. To be honest, the 58 looks too small to me on many reviewers wrist. If it looks small on the wrist in a close up camera shot, it is small. It's a fatty but compare it to IWC 42mm's and any Paneri... forget the Planet Oceans....The BB is class and without trying to be cool, it is very cool.

Thomas Christopher White It feels really comfortable on the wrist. The back of the watch feels really smooth on the wrist partly because there is no caseback. The MM300 is a monocoque case meaning it only opens from through the crystal. My wrist is 6.5" so you don't have to have a big wrist to wear it. It sits pretty tall on the wrist but isn't that wide in diameter. It comes with the steel bracelet as well as the rubber strap. I have not tried it with the rubber strap but it should be no problem. Really great watch. I'm a watchmaker for Tag Heuer and have seen many other watches and I think that the Seiko MM300 looks so great especially the dial and hands. It's amazing how much value you get. If I had one gripe about the watch it would probably be on the watch links. They could definitely be executed better, but the ratcheting diver's clasp is brilliant. I think the price has went up since I've bought mine months ago. The yen may have become stronger. I don't think you can get a better looking diver for the money. It rivals even watches twice it's price.

Have the BB41 since 2 months. Still watching it without knowing what time is it. The best watch today for me 😍

I love the watch & not just because it's cheaper than a Rolex, in some ways it's better looking than a submariner the only thing that would stop me buying one is that I absolutely hate the name Tudor.

Although it is thick, I think the bigger issue with this watch is the 50 mm lug to lug and 22 mm lug width. Those make this watch wear big and enhance the girth.

Beautiful watch, but HIDEOUS BULGE at end of hour hand. No GO! Steinhart Ocean 1 is the way to go

You’re comparing a Shithart to a Tudor? Insanity...

I cn't uderstand how someone would buy this watch since the omega sea master 300 co-axial costs exactly the same and in my opinion is so much better

The watch looks very cool, except the hour hand. It is horrible.

@ 32:15 when he starts to talk about the gap from the case to the lugs at the point where the spring bars are - I bet the gap also helps or is probably also a design for nato straps. It sucks when you get a watch and think- omg it would look amazing on a nato/zulu strap only to find out that the spring bar placement is to close to the case.

I much prefer the watch face dots over the baton markers that you said you liked better from another model..

I don't care for the Tudor's hour hand. I'd rather have a sword, broad arrow or the ever popular Mercedes hand. Then I'd add an orange second hand with a ball. IMO

Excellent review. I love the Tudor range, such good value and an achievable purchase for those that can’t stretch or justify a Rolex. I was torn between the new 2018 GMT but I think the Black Bay Black is the one for me.

Thank you for the outstanding review of this watch! I have a milestone Bday coming up, and the black/blue version looks great for me! Not sure about the yellow/orange indicies vintage look, although the Pelagos LHD looks really good as well! Thanks again.
